  1. Tyre Inflation

I'm not looking to get into a pissin match here. I know lots of people who do it. I just don't agree with it on motor vehicles that are used daily. People generally want to use it so they don't have to worry about checking their tire presure. I get the question of it's use a few times a week at...
  2. Tyre Inflation

I'm not a supporter of doing this. By not getting down and checking you tires nearly as often, you take away a chance to spot something that may be a problem in the making like brake pads that are almost down to the metal, a leak at a caliper, a piece of metal in the tire that hasn't worked...
  3. high / low idle

I haven't had to replace any throttle bodies, but have heard of it being done more then a few times. It's because of wear in the area of the throttle shaft. This is a common place to pick up a vaccume leak on a TBI unit, or carb that uses a butterfly. Triumph will fix it if the tech finds...
  4. A little nervous now

We use copper sealing washers, and crank the plug down real tight. Haven't had a plug come loose yet, and that goes for the Ducatis we deal with, which vibrate as much as a Harley
  5. TORS w/Cat

Ya, there's a map for it. For an 05, it should be aftermarket pipes without cat. Most of the bikes had an empty cat box back then, ergo the term without cat. If you were doing the bypass at the same time, it would be aftermarket pipes with cat box removed.
  6. Lost Instrument Readings

Triumph has had some problems with the Rocket guage set. To the point that they came out with a trouble shooting guide just for the guages. I've replaced at least 3 sets over the past 3+ years, the last where the customer was out of warranty, but Triumph replaced the set at no charge as "good...
  7. Oil sump leaking??

Watch out with Bike bandit. They haven't kept up with vin or engine number breaks for changes in parts. I've had customere bring in parts they saved money on, only to be a wrong part for their bike. There is an engine number break for the actual sump, but in this case the gaskets are all the...
  8. Broken Connection in Ignition Switch

They replaced all three components ?
  9. Broken Connection in Ignition Switch

They could, but if you a solid customer at the dealer, they could easily look past it being relocated. I would if you were my customer.
  10. tachometer glass

No, it's concidered a sealed unit and you can only order the complete tacho. Make note of your vin and which color face it has when ordering. The classic and standard are different. I've seen the wrong part show because the parts guy was told it's just a regular rocket.
  11. Broken Connection in Ignition Switch

If the bike is under two years old, I would do the same. I had this exact problem once, and Triumph gladly covered it. In the case of this customer was pretty perturbed that he was going to have to have two keys for the bike being triumph would only replace the ign switch, and not the...
  12. Speedmaster refuse to start.

OK, the fuse box is directly to the right of the battery box when looking at the bike from the right side, by the ignition switch. If you pull gently at the lower part of the cover, the post will pull out of the rubber gromet exposing the fuse box and more of the ignition switch. The bike...
  13. Speedmaster refuse to start.

I've run into the problem with the America and Speedmaster more then once, and it sounds like the same thing. The harness at the fuse box is stretched tight, and I've found that the wire for the main fuse (30Amp) pulls out of the fuse box just enough to lose all power. I've had to replace...
