  1. How are the Flipmeister Stiffeners?

I ordered the pannier stiffener kit from flip, and had asked for some additional details regarding installation in general and the fasteners in particular. Seems like this information might be of interest to others considering purchase; here's his reply: The Specialty Fasteners attach the...
  2. Muzzy fan for Rocket?

Muzzy sales rep I spoke with claimed a 30-40% increase in flow over typical stock fan. In hot weather and stop and go traffic, my bike runs the fan what seems to me an excessive amount, so a more efficient fan seemed worth a try. In fact, at higher temps when the bike isn't moving, the coolant...
  3. Muzzy fan for Rocket?

Saw post in "resources" forum with link to Muzzy fans, but no product is listed for the R3 on their site--I phoned them and was told they do not have a fan specifically for the R3, so unless one of the other Triumph bikes they list use the same fan I was out of luck. Phoned dealer and asked...
  4. Beringer AeroTec Finally Available?

Hombre, are you planning to use Beringer's clutch and brake lever/master cylinder assemblies as well? Any idea how one might integrate those with existing switches, given they are part of the OEM clutch/brake assemblies? I see they sell a switch kit, but at $6 it can't be much... Also, I see...
  5. Spongy front brake lever

So if I'm understanding this properly, the piston lubricant should solve the issue of excessive lever travel, but if brakes feel mushy then most likely there is still air in the lines. When I tried bleeding, I went through 3 or 4 reservoirs of fluid without success. Evidently the suction...
  6. Spongy front brake lever

Re: piston seal Brake cylinders are not supposed to return out all the way--when you replace old pads with new, they need to be pushed out to fit over the rotor (be careful not to overflow master cylinder!). So, I assume you're referring to the master cylinder piston not returning all the way...
  7. Mobil to Amsoil

Motul? Any one using Motul? That's what my dealer uses by default, though they have some of the Mobil 4T 10w-40 in stock as well. Just about ready for the first oil change--should I insist on the Mobil 4T? And, should I go with the 15w-50 instead of 10w-40? It has been pretty hot this...
  8. Leaking front master cylinder cap

Fix spongy feel? headvince, To fix the spongy feel, I tried bleeding mine as well, to no avail... Am I understanding you correctly, that removing pistons and lubricating helped fix spongy feel? Did you do this to both the master cylinder and brake cylinders?
  9. Spongy front brake lever

Results... well, maybe a little better now, but not much--appeared that some small air bubbles came out. Along with a very noticeable amount of metal filings. I'm sure that's not causing my problem, but can't be good for the master and brake cylinder seals. One of the parts guys at the...
  10. Spongy front brake lever

DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid Dealer sold me DOT 5.1(??) brake fluid, which is supposed to be compatible with DOT 3 and 4, just not 5 (which is silicone). Why they called it 5.1 in that case...? Whatever--I believe it's what they put in the bike; guess I'm assuming the dealer adds brake fluid and...
  11. Spongy front brake lever

Instead of having a nice firm stopping point my front brake lever feels spongy, like the brakes need to be bled. If I squeeze reasonably hard, it depresses to the grip (!). Bike is less than a month old, so I mentioned to dealer and was told, "that's just Triumph." I checked a couple other...
  12. Dropping out of 1st into neutral.

Just-- shift it firmly into gear immediately after engaging the clutch, so the gears are still turning slightly and will sync up. Should hear a satisfying clunk--no clunk=problem. That said, there's no need to stomp on it, just shift quick and firm.
  13. Oil level: Sidestand vs. Upright

    Thanks--very educational.
  14. Oil level: Sidestand vs. Upright

Just checked the oil level on my new Rocket--reads full when on sidestand, but doesn't seem to even show on dipstick when upright. I had thought, like most bikes I've owned, level should be checked with bike upright and the owner's manual confirms this. Bike only has about 240 miles on it, and...
  15. Black Bear Claw?

Busajack, that is one sharp bike. I've never been particularly enamored of black cycles and didn't care for the 3-filter/no cover look, but I'm rethinking both... Do you have more pics posted? And, I apologize because I'm sure you've been asked this a thousand times, but what's the piece in...
