  1. Rockets letting me down.

When my bike was taking turns starting badly (either low idle and dying or super high idle) and running smooth then rough a mile later it turned out to be a TPS that read fine but was bad. Had to talk Triumph main U.S. rep into sending one to local dealer . They test road before tps, then...
  2. Handlebars

I just did 1200 miles in 3 1/3 days and IF I didn't have my throttlemeisters would really be hurting now. In the twisties I'm cool, but holding the throttle open a bit on the hwy gets old quick. Throttlemeisters will hold speed, but are easy to adjust a bit to correct speed.
  3. progressive fork springs

Anyone out there installed these? Hard to imagine they would 'dive' less than standard, but what do I know! Testimonials?
  4. Fuel injection retune

Wrong minnesota guy. Look at the proper graphs. There are tunes that say 'full power'. They open both butterflies the same instead of one being only partially open when you're in 4th or 5th gear. The same tune(s) -(one for the classic and one for the standard) are not connected to TORS and...
  5. Fuel injection retune

But.........there are 2 tunes with 'Full Power' and neither are those. They apparently don't want you to have (the above) with a more open air flow. The full power is actually just in 4th and 5th , which I like for passing cars.
  6. Slow throttle response

I had a slow idle return (not as much as 20 seconds though) after I had the dealer talked into trying to lower my idle from about 850 to 750. He could only get it to about 800 or it " ran crappy" per the mechanic. As soon as I took off I got the slow response and went back in the next week to...
  7. New to board -- WTB an R3.

By the time you decide, you'll be riding on ICE. Price gauging? You mean not giving them away? Pegs with a fairing? Buy the 'dresser' version of the classic and sell the floorboard set-up to someone who'll throw in his pegs. Once you throw your let over it when it's yours, all this...
  8. Which Triumph tune should I try to get?

I wasn't aware that the 'new' tunes went above 20144. Where can I see the tunes to 20149?? I chose 20143 for my 06 classic because it's one of only 2 new tunes that says 'full power' which actually means full power in only 4th and 5th. The others show the secondary throttle plates only...
  9. HIGH SPEED TANK SLAPPER....need help fast!!!

Why would you want to go 125+ with a passenger? The few times I've gotten in the 120 indicated range all I could think of is: 'Am I nuts?'. I'm surprised how long it takes to get from 110 to 120. Figured this beast would get there quicker, without giving me much chance to ponder why I'm...
  10. Classic tuning

I tried every combination. As I was trying to elude to in my above post, I figured no cat and stock pipes would sound better than my original w/cat and tors. They were both too quiet. I remember standing next to the r3 at a gas station just after switching to no cat and stock pipes and...
  11. Classic tuning

Here's my take: The tunes for a classic are the same, except they limit your max speed. Check out the power curve bands on all the tunes. Most start out near fun power to about 1500 rpm then drop into a valley , then back up to near top at about 6k rpm. Weird. One tune gives you full...
  12. Progressive 440s

If your problem is you hit bumps too hard, you don't want to crank the shocks to 5. I got the 440's too, the standard spring (vs heavy) version, weigh 235 and ride solo. Let's say it has 5 settings (doesn't exactly work that way - you'll see if you get some). I have mine essentially at 2, 1...
  13. lowering idle speed

O.K. I'll ask this in a different way. Has anyone out there purposefully lowered their idle speed and if so, noticed any negative effects? (brain misinterpreted this or that)
  14. lowering idle speed

No problem with lumpy idle or dying issues. My idle sounds to fast for my liking and tach reads about 900-950 after about 60 seconds of idling. At 1st service tech went the extra mile and synched the throttle bodies, may have increased idle then (about 6 months ago). Local dealer says...
  15. R3 tunes revisited

A 2nd dealer just told me that he also received a new update to the tuning software. Anyone out there have any details on what new is being offered?! Maybe they figured out they needed a non-detuned option (finally).
