Well, I lost the gas cap...

When I started this thread, it was because I left my cap sitting on top of a gas pump and didnt realize it till the next day. This was largely due to the monza lid hiding the hole. Then I contacted Triumph and they told me because the cap is keyed with the rest of the bike, they only sell a...

Well, I lost the gas cap...

Not yet. It seals fine for riding without splashing out, and I filled my tank to the very top where the gas was over the metal baffle when I test rode. The bolt hole in the middle is what I have to address. I need to fabricate a custom slip bolt based off the original design that screws into...

Well I finally made the monza lid into a real cap! I will post a new thread for it but here are some pics.

DIY Side Mount Plate From Two Cheap Kits

Yeah it's on the top where i drilled the three holes to mount it. It may not get the whole plate due to the curve, but I'll wait and see how the police react before I change anything...

DIY Side Mount Plate From Two Cheap Kits

Thanks for all the feedback! In my opinion, between turn signals not being required on motorcycles and integrated tailight turn signals being legal the distance thing seems mute to me. I did wrestle with making the holes, but I pulled the trigger because no matter what, I will never put them...

DIY Side Mount Plate From Two Cheap Kits

Hello Rocketeers! I just completed my side mount plate and turn signal relocation project and I wanted to share the results. I bought two inexpensive plate kits, a pair of bolts, and some black spray paint for touch-up after cutting. I pulled the small wiring harness and split the turn signal...

So much detail! I can even see it has a double lip split oring seal. You're awesome for this Einar, thanks!

Well, I lost the gas cap...

If anyone could shoot a picture of the bottom of their cap that would be most helpful. I'm really just looking for what the original sealing surface and o-ring gasket look like. Thanks!

Well, I lost the gas cap...

I know there's a cap hiding on their shelves that would work. My only concern was digging for one without the giant raised finger bar across the middle, for lid clearance concerns. Also i grabbed the cap off my truck and it grabbed the threads, but it was too large in diameter and caught the...

Well, I lost the gas cap...

I think so too. Some of the caps I found said they worked on 1983 and up Harley sportsters as well as the triumphs. That would definitely open up some options. I am really intrigued to make a kit to make the monza lid a real sealed cap to remove and replace the factory one.

Well, I lost the gas cap...

Rode for 20 minutes with no issues and no codes. Some details: 1/3 tank of gas down to 1/4 at end and gas light came on as normal, 100 degrees out, bike warmed to full operating temp during ride.

About to ride so I'll let you know if any lights show up. I can tell you riding without one does not! Lol
