  1. K-Drive Saddlebags

Ran a set for five years on my Rocket. never a monents problem with them, never any problems with water intrusion. Easy on and off with a way to lock them to the mounting brackets with a key. Like them so much, i kept them when i sold the bike.
  2. Sold my Rocket

Aawww,,,come on guys. quit pickin' on my 15 year old, 50,000+ mile Rocket beat'n Trophy :D! She is getting a little tired though. Smoking a little and getting sluggish. Hell, she used to run low 11's easily. Time for a teardown, some Daytona cams and a big bore kit. It was fun running up...
  3. Sold my Rocket

Sorry to say guys, but i sold my Rocket a couple of days ago. It was a decision made after much enjoyment and almost as much aggravation of owning the bike for five solid years. The stator going out was finally the so called straw that broke the camels back. It would of required me to once more...
  4. Rocket charging problems

I checked for continuity(?) on the accessory ground wire and also the ground wire to the RR and they are both showing lack of a complete ground. I appreciate the suggestions but I will most likely pull the harness and untape it and attempt to find the problem. Crap like that just bugs the hell...
  5. Least Aerodynamic Vehicle Observation

I remember when you used to feel the big rigs come sneaking up on you. You actually began to feel the headwind start to ease up and sometimes actually start pulling you along as a Peterbuilt was passing. Nowadays, with all these newer aerodynamic style big rigs, they can come up on you and blow...
  6. Rocket charging problems

Well...it's not a charging problem, but a ground issue somewhere in the harness which is causing the voltage rectifyer to loose ground. On the battery ground cable, there is a smaller accessory ground wire that comes off the cable at the battery connection. A couple of inches down there is a...
  7. Rocket charging problems

Great flow chart! I'll give it a try. Thanks, Bigern
  8. Rocket charging problems

When the output shaft bearing let go, i called Dink and he in turn called Triumph with my engine serial number and a couple of weeks later i had a complete update kit sitting on my doorstep free of charge. Pretty good for a bike three years out of warranty. I just had to do all the labor myself...
  9. Rocket charging problems

Hey Guys, Well, the ole' Rocket is at it again giving me fits! I reciently installed the engine update kit after my output shaft bearing failed, at no cost to me except my labor and time, and now a couple of months later, the charging system has taked a dump. Tried changing out the voltage...
  10. Cam and crank timming issues

Just an update on the timming issue. I pulled the cam chain this evening and checked it for slack, and wow! I've seen logging chain with less slack than this! I might even be a tooth and a half off by the time everthing gets rollng. This at somewhere around 45,000 miles. Something to keep in...
  11. Cam and crank timming issues

Sounds like sound advice! I didn't have this problem the first time i had the motor down, so it's most likely a stretched chain. Thanks for the help!
  12. Cam and crank timming issues

It's just crazy...everything seems to line up. even manually checked TDC thru a spark plug hole. But once you apply the tensioner, it's back to being off half a tooth. The crank gear came with the update kit i guess due to breakage of the gear and what's funny is it had no line up "dot" for TDC...
  13. Cam and crank timming issues

Well, after my output shaft bearing failure, i was able to procure an update kit from Triumph thru my old dealer in Florida free of charge. (Thanks Dink!) Anyways, iv'e got the motor back together but am having an issue getting the crank and cams to time correctly. Seems like no matter what i...
  14. Output drive unit failure

Looking back at my photos of when i had the motor apart a couple of years ago and looking at the picture of my final drive unit, it clearly shows the small end bearing installed from the factory backwards. The photo shows the oil shield facing to the outside which we now know is incorrect. When...
  15. Inner case damage

    Inner case damage

Just below the bearing hole you can also see where the gear shaved down the case webbing and also rubbed against the face of the bearing hole.
