She's back-and just in time for Christmas!!!
Finally, after 3 months of frustration and chasing parts back and forth across The Pond, my Beast is back in my driveway! After a short ride back from the dealer (it was too cold to go far, and I wasn't dressed for it), I can only say that the dealer did an outstanding job in putting her back together. The suspension seems more compliant than before, and she tracks straight as an arrow (confirming no frame problems).
Now, to do some things about that riding position (Handlebars off of a Classic, and a backrest), and it'll be time to start putting some miles on her. Hope to see you all on the road!
Thanks, All! Budman, she wasn't in for an upgrade, I was riding to work 2 weeks after I'd bought her,and wound up as a tailgate ornament on an old Ford pickup after blipping the throttle to shift from neutral to first. Still not quite sure how that happened. $5500.00 worth of damage, and a major embarassment for me. My Rocket now has a whole new front end, and I'll probably get higher insurance rates as a result. One thing I was skeptical about when I bought her, but now am glad she has is the heated grips. I turned them on and used them yesterday, and while the rest of me was cold (subfreezing temps) my hands were toasty warm. Guess it's time to invest in some heated clothing! Everyone have a Merry Christmas!!
