Triumph Motorcycles have revealed their 2007 model range at their North American dealer conference this weekend. The 2007 line-up boasts one brand new model and significant updates to several existing models.

Triumph’s popular Bonneville and Bonneville Black models gain an extra 75cc for 2007, taking the engine to 865cc, while the Bonneville’s unique looks are also enhanced by a stylish black engine finish, capped with polished covers.

Taking many cues from Triumph’s past the Bonneville and Bonnie Black have found real relevance today with both older riders who remember the original machines and a younger, contemporary customer looking for a simple, honest and useful machine that can be enjoyed to the full. These retro inspired roadsters cleverly combine authenticity and tradition with modern technology and the updates for 2007 give these classics a fresh twist.

While the distinctive British-twin sound is unchanged the new engine delivers more mid-range torque, with 90% of peak torque available from 2,500rpm until the red line, providing smooth acceleration in any of the 5 gears. Both the Bonneville and Bonneville Black are now also fitted with a span adjustable clutch lever.

The 2007 Bonneville is available now in Jet Black, Goodwood Green and Aluminium Silver, while the Bonneville Black, as the name suggests, is available in Jet Black only with black engine covers.

Triumph’s Bonneville range can be personalised with Triumph’s contemporary Sixty8 range of accessories, which includes a variety of vibrant cosmetic parts such as tank covers, tank badges and headlight covers plus a supple, stylish laptop bag and tank mounted wallet & iPod holder.

For 2007 the Triumph America sports a host of changes that improve both its looks and performance. Engine capacity is increased from 790cc to 865cc giving even more easy-going drive without losing any of the character. Continuing the theme of relaxed riding, pillion comfort has been improved through a redesigned, plusher pillion seat while the restyled pillion footrest hangers and chain cover give a neater finish. Reverse-cone silencers, brand new 12-spoke cast wheels, chunkier fork shrouds, adjustable clutch and front brake levers, a black engine finish with chrome covers and four rich new paint options enhance this popular, easy-going cruiser yet further.

Triumph’s custom hot-rod, the Speedmaster, has received similar attention and for 2007 features the same restyled pillion footrest hangers, redesigned chain cover and chunkier fork shrouds. Brand new, solid spoke wheels add to the bike’s appeal and while the Speedmaster’s punchy 865cc engine is essentially unchanged, the evocative, loping exhaust note now vents through a pair of deep-chromed slash-cut silencers. Four new paint schemes underscore the Speedmaster’s dark, brooding lines and pared-down hot-rod essence, ensuring the Speedmaster remains a standout middleweight cruiser from every angle.

The 2007 America and Speedmaster will be available from December 2006.

The Sprint ST is a sports bike that covers distance in absolute comfort, a touring bike that carves corners effortlessly, with a truly usable mix of poise, power and practicality.

Customer research played a key role in shaping the ST and Triumph has continued to analyse market trends and owner feedback to ensure this model continues to meet the needs of the discerning sports touring rider.

For 2007 the balance tips firmly in favour of touring with a number of thoughtful enhancements. The seat has been re-profiled to make it more comfortable and easier to straddle at standstill. The handlebars too, have been altered. Now higher and further back, they’ve been tailored to give a more relaxed riding position. The high screen, which was previously available as an accessory option also now comes fitted as standard, as do Triumph’s latest generation panniers. These factory-designed, specialist-made panniers are fully waterproof, durable, easy to fit yet quickly detachable and operate via a single key for panniers and ignition.

Although the engine is unchanged, for good reason, the 2007 ST comes with Triumph’s second generation Keihin Engine Control Unit, with more sophisticated mapping for quicker starting, cleaner running and better fuel economy.

Two new colour options join Caspian Blue in 2007, Phantom Black and Tornado Red. All three are available for both the standard and popular ABS models and will be available from January 2007.

Brand new for 2007, and taking a huge evolutionary leap forward, the Tiger 1050 lives in a genuinely different space to other bikes in its class, excelling in three distinct areas.

While its sharp lines and performance spec make the Tiger’s sporting credentials clear from a glance, its stunning looks hide a practical streak: Take a Tiger two-up touring way off into the wilds and you’ve got a bike that comfortably devours miles of tarmac. The relaxed riding position, spacious seat, supple suspension and tractable torquey engine guarantee you arrive fresh at the end of the longest day.

Next, ditch the bags, go it alone and head for a bit of fun at strange angles. Tucked into a brilliantly balanced chassis, the Tiger’s potent engine delivers power and ear to ear grins. Multi-adjustable front and rear suspension keeps things planted and a squeeze on the radial brakes stops you on a euro.

Then it’s back to the city where the Tiger slinks through snarled up traffic and the sleek lines look sharp as a knife. Here the commanding view really comes into its own, giving the rider the jump on everyone, while the wide bars make tight manoeuvres child’s play. Soft luggage holds the day’s essentials.
The Speed Triple-derived engine has been tweaked to suit the Tiger’s unique temperament, with more torque across the rev range and a taller final drive ratio for added flexibility. The Tiger 1050 also features a new generation sophisticated Keihin engine management system, which has twice as much memory as before for quicker starting and improved fuel economy.

Rider and pillion benefit from great ergonomics, excellent wind protection and rubber mounted handle bars and foot pegs. A new 17 inch front wheel both improves road manners and offers a greater choice of rubber. Multi-adjustable 43mm Showa upside down front forks and monoshock rear suspension tailor the set-up to suit the ride while the Tiger’s also the lightest bike in its class.

The Tiger in profile looks ready to pounce. The sharp, angular lines of the headlight cowl muscle up around the tank and then flow beautifully to the upswept tail. A bike capable of so many different things should look like a compromise yet the Tiger looks stunning. Available in four different colour options – Caspian Blue, Scorched Yellow, Fusion White and Jet Black, the new Tiger 1050 will be available before the end of the year.

The Rocket III, Rocket III Classic, Bonneville T100, Thruxton, Scrambler, Speed Triple, Sprint ST and Daytona 675 all continue into 2007 with a number of minor updates and a whole host of new colours, including the striking Roulette Green and Silver Scrambler and the racy Tornado Red Thruxton.
