Looking for a top box to mount to my luggage rack. I'd like one of those bulky alumium ADV crates, but anything should work as long as I can set it up to work as a passenger backrest, and it will hold a medium sized backpack or helmet.

Ideas for cheap boxes are welcome, even if you don't have one for sale.

Perhaps not the cheapest option but Givi offers a wide range of high quality top/side boxes.

I have the 46l MonoKey Top Box Monokey Cases : 46 LITER TOP CASE MATTE BLACK

List prices ----- $245 plus optional rack $88 plus optional back rest $55. An optional brake light kit is available too.

You also need a mounting plate.

I use a universal Givi E250 plate ($74) bolted to a stripped down rear pillion seat frame (a used one is on ebay for $67.50).

Just 3 bolts to attach it to where the back seat should be and its pretty stable. An improvement would be to fabricate a
bar to connect the plate to the rear fender bolt but I never got around to doing it...

The Givi box locks securely to the base plate and you can easily disconnect it and take it into the hotel etc.

So that's list $462 (+ maybe tax/shipping??) plus a pillion seat if you want to go that route and don't want to cannibalize yours.

NOTE: FC-Moto ▷ Motorrad, Outdoor, Wintersport und Radsport Shop! appears to have that similar 4-piece setup for only $262 including shipping to U.S. - wow!
