I've seen stuff like that tested on TV and they said it doesn't work!

I saw a site the other night where they tested all the available ways of avoiding Gatsos with the help of police mates using actual Gatsos and the only things that really worked were the flip up James Bond things. I've seen stuff demonstrated at shows but using a small digital camera from close range.

Most cameras now are using special ir lights when they take a picture to prevent this from happening, save your money...
