Hi I just thought I would introduce myself to the club. I run TTS and have produced the Rotrex supercharger conversion for the R3. I know many of you have looked at the conversion with pros and cons. I feel I have a finite version of the conversion. Progressive power, instant throttle response, totally controllable and one hell of a talking point every time you stop. If any one has any questions I will answer them on line or privately if they so wish. It makes one awesome motorcycle even more so :D

Welcome! I'm interested if you have an intercooler option or other refinements in the works or other performance mods like cam shafts and such. I asked you guys a while back but you said no, so I thought I'd get an update.

You also need better distribution in the U.S. How am I supposed to get a kit and get it installed by a pro around here? Is it something a semi-mechanic like me could install in my home shop?

Also, you have a foam filter on the intake that sticks out there on it's own. Is that gonna be any good riding in rain?

Xstream in Clovis Calif. have a conversion and can supply and fit and give advice. They are a new shop but already have a conversion on their R3, it should make a couple of magazines shortly. As far as intercoolers, I now have a fully tooled up fab shop with a very good engineer and we have already drawn up an intercooled version for those how want one. The boost isn't high at a max of 8lb. But you do have extremes of weather out there so an intercooler could improve the performance in hot weather. The conversion makes 215-225 bhp and strangley we have had as much as 200 lb ft torque and as little as 175 lbft on vertually identical setups, I don't know if Triumph have different maps in different area's maybe with less ignition advance. I have been working with a Powercommander but maybe a Tuneboy could fine tune the igniton. I have yet to buy from Wayne but his product could be the answer. Its early days with some of this stuff and as we know Triumph still have problems on the std bike with idle and hang ups etc.
Triumph are just 30 miles away and I have had some good conversations with their tech guys, they all seem enthusiastic. They feel the engine can take the power as the delivery is so smooth.
I've 1/4 miled one bike and made 10.7/134 just rolling off the start. I can increase the boost but I feel for general use what we have is enough with a good degree of reliability. As far as airfiltration is concerned it wouldn't be to difficult to put a cover over the filter so it breathed from the rear, maybe a removeable item, you can use a K & N if you wish with no detriment, I think it may look smarter. Your thought are always welcome.

The kit comes complete with injectors, all you need is a mapping device like a P/com or Tuneboy. Price is approx $5000 US at the present exchange rate. :D

Sorry I didn't answer to the difficulty in fitting. With the instructions and reasonable mechanical skills its pretty easy to fit. Maybe we could work together at showing the installation on this forum, I don't know how to post photo's. :(

Your boost kit has been sounding mighty tasty for a while and I think the Tuneboy will help more with fine tuning since it writes to the ECU instead of piggybacking on the Triumph installed tune, which can vary.

I'm interested in an intercooled version and how much you think it will cost.

Also very interested in see that install so I'd be glad to post pics for you.
Just email them to me at tah*AT*bpmsrat.com (replace *AT* with @).

Thanks for the info!

You certainly answer the questions with the kind of enthusiasm and openness that all here will appreciate. I for one just will have to wait a bit, maybe the exchange rate will go in my favor soon. (HA). This setup looks really good to me.

Here are those pics with some description added from what Richard told me...

All cool stuff. Real industrial look as there are a lot of exposed parts. For reliability in weather though I'd like the charger drive wheel and belt covered as well as some type of cover for that intake air filter.

From Richard's description of the install, I think it'd be doable in a few days for an amateur mechanic like me.

To give you an idea...

Radiator has to be removed to gain access to front of engine. Front engine cover needs removal to install stiffer clutch springs, though for those of us who've installed performance Barnett Clutch parts already then the new clutch springs are not needed.

Pic 1 shows the parts that will mesh with the lower cam gear and drive the supercharger. The lower cam gear is the thing under the black round cover in the front of the engine case.

Pic 3 shows a 10mm hole has to be drilled in an engine case fin for the lower supercharger mount. That fin is just cosmetic so you're not going to drill into the engine case or affect the engine in any way.

Pic 4 shows the bolt in the engine case that the upper supercharger mount uses. This is the same bolt that engine dresser bars use so if you still want to use them, you'll have to figure a way to extend the bolt farther so the dresser bar will fit on the bolt as well.

Pic 6 shows that the stock ignition coil bracket is cut in half so the two pieces can be mounted farther apart to let the super charger air feed pipe route in the center.

You can see from the pics that the stock airbox will be thrown out and the supercharger air feed pipe installed directly to the throttle bodies.

New fuel injectors, the combined supercharger oil tank/cooler are also installed. Also count in installing a Tuneboy or PCIII so the ECU is mapped correctly for this setup.

An intercooler is being developed that would mount behind the radiator on the right side. The left side already holds the supercharger oil tank/cooler.

Ty what a superb job you've done putting these photo's on the site. I thankyou very much. :D
