Yeah I wouldn't be thinking of a new one at that price either. It would have to be a nice used one for about 1/3 of that. Course you can't tell, there for a time the old 450's were commanding a premium years back.
 
Seeing as how the Rebel has always been marketed as an "entry level" motorcycle, seems that even the bigger model should be priced accordingly - under $10K for sure. 1000cc Indian Scout starts at $9K new and the Harley Iron 1200 is $9999.

And, for less than $1K more, you'd pull a lot more tail with a Speed Twin than that ugly monstrosity...
