Hi, Everyone!

I've wanted a Rocket 3 ever since I saw my first one when the Triumph store opened up here in Albuquerque about a year ago, and within 2 weeks my 'dream' will come true! My current ride is an '03 Kawasaki Voyager XII that's getting a little long in the tooth, so I decided top give it to a close friend who needs transpo, and talk to the local Triumph dealer about an '05 R3 that they've had on the floor for a couple of months. Well, the loan got approved, and I go down to pick her up in 2 weeks!:D.
This bike has almost all of the extras that Triumph had available in '05, and it's the silver color, so it's sure a looker! I'm going down this morning to make part of the down pmt, and take a ride on her. I'm sure itll be an eye opener! I'll have a 'ride report' posted when I get home!

Congrats Hank welcome to the forum I had a 05 graphite one and it was a blast right up till the little old lady pulled out in front of me so now I got an 08 phantom black but I still think the graphite with the grey motor is pretty and unique . I hope you luv your new bike as much as I luv mine remember to take breaks often otherwise your face will stay that way and everyone will ask what are you grinning about .:D

Almost forgot get used to people flocking over to ask a thousand questions EVERYTIME you stop for gas . Good luck and enjoy.

Rode Her Today...

OHMYGAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was my reaction after I took a 'test ride' of about 170 miles on the '05 R3 that I'm buying. I don't think I've EVER been on a bike as comfortable over long distances and that was so much unadulterated FUN to ride! Considering the bike's weight, it handled beautifully (even in the parking lot, which surprised me), it out accellerated anything else on 2 wheels, and it just Looked so GREAT! I've never been a V-Twin man, and when the time came to move on from my Voyager (a wonderful bike in its own right), I was worried because there wasn't anything else around that I could afford that wasn't or didn't look like a V-Twin. This Rocket fills almost every requirement I had for a touring bike (a major one being-No Plastic!) There are a couple of minor problems, the bags will have to be changed (They've been out in the sun too long), and the riding position isn't quite right (something I've arranged with the dealer to fix), but other than those 2 minor problems, it's PERFECT! Interestingly, the ads for the bike put the gas mileage at 33-36 MPG, and on my ride, I got over 42...and some of that was at extra-legal speeds. Yep, I'm satisfied, and when I go to pick her up in 2 weeks it will be a very happy day. Boy, are the guys in the club (The Enchanted Voyagers out of Albuquerque) going to be surprised at the rally next month!
(I might get kicked out of the club!):D

:eek:42 mpg! You apparently didn't open the Fat Bottom Girl up, often enough. Or else, that is phenomenal mileage. The leather bags will malform and weather if not attended to properly. And the OEM saddle is not a "touring" seat; in fact, it begins to feel like an unpadded toilet seat very shortly. You will find anything about the Rocket III discussed on this site. If ive not said before, welcome to the site.

Enchanted Voyagers:eek: Now I am suspicious  I imagine you'll be looking for a throttle control right away.
