Thanks for all your engagement.
You have sent pictures of three different sensors. Mine is similar to the one in the middle. The other two makes much more sense though? It is in the middle of the night right now here in Sweden. Will take a look tomorrow.

Best regards Torsten

Tried to remove the cap and I was wrong not plastic. After some work tring to remove it the connexion to ground is also on the cap. Wd40 may have removed some corrosion. But still stuck.
In the meantime I have found a service bulletin replacing the sensor and harness as Ishrub posted.
Also I have found info(correct or not?) that it is possible to disable the changes in gear position for the ecu. (Adjustment of the ignition?)

I’m experiencing the exact same issues. Was this part subject to a recall or is it just a case of a better performing revised part that we all just have to buy, when the original GPS starts to play up? The GPS on my bike has a single brass pin on a freely rotating disc, which fits into the hole in the end of the gear position shaft. If I understand right, I need to buy a pin and a spring which fit into that hole and also buy the new version of the sensor, with six (plus neutral) position sensor contact points, that the pin makes contact with. Is there anything else which needs to be done, after fitting the new parts?

Hi. This was never solved. I tried a lot to remove the pin and spring without any sucess. On my bike it must be disabled adjusting the ignition depending on which gear. Anyway I can't feel anything wrong. I bought a sensor for a Suzuki that has more or less the same diameter and space between the gearpositions. Grinded off the mounting holes and put a spring behind it. Connected the neutralswitch to the ecu. It works perfect. And then it was easy to install a gearindicator aswell!
