I have a foolproof plan and a airtight alibi
A big THANK YOU to Big Kel, Rocket Scientist, and CanberraR3 for your correct diagnosis of worn pads. At 13,000 miles, I didn't think it was was time to check, but I was wrong. I took it to a local v-twin shop to have them replaced, as my nearest Triumph dealer is 160 miles away. They had the job done in 20 minutes; I guess the mechanic didn't need the Triumph service manual after all.
To the second set of questions; no, not really a heavy rear brake user. In fact, I find using the pedal to be an awkward, toe pointing exercise. I am fitting a set of floorboard next, down and forward (6'3", 250 lbs. here), and am going to rotate the pedal higher, for size 14 boot clearance and a better location for me.
Thank you all for your input
