Morning all,

Can anyone tell me where this earth goes please?

It's connected directly to the battery, but not sure where the other end goes.

There's a similar cable on the live side too?

I'm guessing fuse box but can't find it on the wiring diagram.

Almost impossible to trace guys. It's so deeply embedded in the loom if be pulling sheathing off for hours.

That earth cable keeps failing and it's causing my starter to click rather than crank the engine.

With the bike running, if I pull the wire the bike slowly dies. No engine manage light so can't read a code.

Grr!
 
Question #1 what side of bike is the picture left or right?
#2 how many terminal blades is on the relay 4 or 5?
that connector just below the wiring i would say to take it apart and clean terminals.
#3 can u feel the relay click when cranking motor?
if u remove the wire from relay will it still crank?

It's on the left hand side of the bike. It goes directly to the battery. There's an identical one on the other side going to the live. They're both hard wired in to the positive and negative cables

Just to be clear. I am not talking about the relay. I am talking at the black earth cable with the connector block in the middle.

If I undo that connector block, the bike will still crank. But it creates such a voltage sag that it will not turn the engine over. It's currently a loose connection so I have to wobble it to get my bike to start.

If I disconnect whilst the bike is running the idle will become erratic and stall. Could it be for the fuel pump?

Look at the schematic to see where the battery lead terminates. Sounds like a loose connection or corrosion issue.
 

You need to fix that connection if you have ground cable troubles any thing (sensors or actuators) on the bike could cause a problem
