hello from Italy!! Advice needed!

welcome from Arizona
if you like speed you will love the rocketIII

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your comments.

looks like getting a test ride is more difficult than i thought as no dealer inmy region actually has one! I guess there is not as much demand here as in the USA....might have to take a leap of faith (..and a very expensive one....the rocket X looks awfully good....:)

keep those comments comming....especially differences to the k1600gt which is what I can relate to!!

Cheers

I never rode mine, saw it,fell in love with the engine with the triple exhaust ports, bought it and never regretted it.

Ciao from New Jersey, USA, alexcin. I have ridden the Beemer and also with a friend that owns one. A stock Rocket Roadster is a more powerful and slightly quicker bike than the 1600... a slightly modified Rocket is significantly more so, including the Rocket Touring model, which does require a bit more tweaking than a Roadster.

There's a very big difference between the two motorcycle's power bands, most especially due to the torque, which, with our Triumphs is available from very low RPMs. Personally I found the Rocket to be much more comfortable as an everyday rider than the gadget laden and twitchy throttled Beemer, but that's probably due to my 62 year old, well used body and my being more "old school" when it comes to a motorcycle's response and ergonomics. The triumph will turn many more heads and put more smiles on your face than the BMW, IMO. You will soon see that for yourself, I am sure!;)

There shouldn't be any surprises for you, the 1600 is the "cadillac" of sport touring and the R3. hehehehe I rode chicago, st pete and back 1200 miles each way and getting around semi's and the buttheads trying to beat me to it was the most fun I ever had. 80 mph at 3k rpm is cruising and 2 up with luggage we got 40 mpg. by myself 3800 rpm cruising alone 95-100 (honestly the gauges are getting tough to read at speed for me) 32 mpg but passing and engine breaking on the R3 at hwy speed is a RUSH

What is this "power band" you speak of? Isnt the power just always "there" like on a rocket.

I don't mean this flippantly, Sensafan, but the best way to understand the meaning of that term is to look it up on the internet and learn to read a dyno sheet. The power band is also known as the "sweet spot" where an engine makes maximum hp and torque. Our Rockets have a very broad power band from low RPM on up.

At the end of every day,i wish i was a little smarter.......Ill goggle it later thanks. Sounded good earlier lol.

Honestly, man, this has nothing to do with your being any smarter. Nobody knows everything, but it's easy enough to learn about anything these days with the "Internets".

Thank you Al Gore!
