Glad you've joined in the forum. Spent many years in Ft. Myers and loved everything except the hurricanes ( and I don't mean the football team). Be careful of grinning too much because certain times of the year you'll get a mouthful of "love-bugs".
Steve the 1st thing I had put on was the engine enhancement bars. They came in handy when I dropped her on my 1st MSF coarse. The Leatherlykes protected the rear and it didn't get a scratch on it. I got most of my riding years in your area, St. Pete, Clw. So you know about the blue hairs and their right to pull out in front of you always. In warm weather a seat cover keeps the monkey butt at bay I got mine from Alaskaleather. If you are a lightweight(as in lbs. not hair or iron canoles) they say under 200 lbs you may want to improve the riding experience by getting some forgiving shocks from Progressive or whomever. If you are short you can get them smaller if taller get them longer. Oh I haven't got my deposit on mine yet but going to go the show in Atlanta to check out the new tourer this weekend, by the way welcome guy and keep the rubber side down by all means.
Welcome aboard.... There's ton of information here, trick is sortin the good stuff out of the sheep doodoo. MSF classes are great. They will show you how to improve what you think you already know, and time to practice it. I go back to the ERC class every couple years. and I've logged over 140,000 miles on 8 bikes.
Welcome to the Forum Steve.
Big mouth horn (eg. Stebel Nautilus), Back-off Tail Light Modular, and aux. fog light kit all add a great deal of increased security.
The Rocket I guess would still top the list, I still kick myself for selling my 1500 Intruder. It was nothing spectacular but a real easy and comfortable ride. I could ride it all day and get up and do it again the next. others include a 64 Honda S90,74 750 Suzuki water buffalo,3 Gold Wings, BMW K1200LTE

The 1500 Intruder is a lot of bike for the money. I miss my 1400 Intruder. I made the mistake of riding a Valk and the Intruder had to go while it was still worth something.
I did the same thing, only on the rocket. Stupid at the time but I thought the rocket was a replacment, Love the R3 but for what I sold it for the Intruder was a steal, Like ya say a lot of bang for the buck and no slouch either, for a V twin.
