Hello from Europe...

Here we go, it's in our DNA, Bull.
Really nice shot- mine is at my parent's house though, cannot reply with another old photo...

@1olbull, yesterday I was in the Vienna city center with my rocket, so I decided to go and shoot a few pics at Freyung. Here is the nicest one with not too many people around. Hope you like it.

Hi, I visited Austria this summer, did'nt see you !!

@1olbull, yesterday I was in the Vienna city center with my rocket, so I decided to go and shoot a few pics at Freyung. Here is the nicest one with not too many people around. Hope you like it.

This is AWESOME! I thank you SO MUCH!
My daughter will be elated as well.
We intend on coming over there one day soon when the grand kid gets a tad older (4 now).
We have traced our tree to Ahornod where my family has come from since 1614 to the early 1900s when my grandfather and grandmother eloped over here in order to get married.
Freyung and Oberndorf are in the our tree to a lesser degree.
Seems to us that Freyung was like the county seat where records were kept and folks were buried.
We plan to check it all out when we get there.
Thanks again for the photo - it's very exciting to us!

Great! Very happy to be helpful, I was close to the place so it was not a big deal at all, Bull.
Concerning Oberndorf, it would be important to reliably sort out which Oberndorf it actually was - check this out: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oberndorf
There are lots and lots of places called Oberndorf because the name just means "upper village". Some of them are located in Germany, some in Austria.
There are in fact several places calles Freyung as well (it means "liberation"): http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freyung_(Begriffsklärung)
So before you actually jump over the ocean, it's probably a good idea to make completely sure you're going to the right places.

Bull, I have news for you.
I thought I am gonna check this out for you, because you don't know the language and the places, which can be a little bit confusing over here...
So the bad news is: I probably shot the wrong location for you.
Good news is: I found the right location.
Your ancestors are almost 100% sure from Freyung and Ahornöd in Bavaria, Germany. Because these are a small city and a neighbouring village in walking distance from each other!
