Took a 408 mile ride today and went to Sturgis, MI. Getting ready for RAA Texas Bought some Gerbing, jacket, gloves, and socks. Held off on the pants as I am still working on getting the 20 pounds of winter weight off....

Man is that stuff expensive! One good thing, it will work well under my snowmobile suit when I go to Quebec riding this winter with our group. So at least it will be dual purpose.

How did it go with jacket and gloves?

I wear a Gerbing's jacket liner and G3 gloves during the winter. Everything heats up in seconds, and as long as the roads are dry, I can ride comfortably in the dead of winter in sub-freezing weather.

+1 for heated gear. I bought First Gear heated pants and jacket this year, too old to be cold any more.

I rode up to Braidwood, Bungendore and Tarago today. It was warmer while I was on the bike, had turn the heat off at Braidwood on the way back. Too **** hot!

I read somewhere that you don't need all the heated gear. As long as you have the chest warm, that enough because it keeps the blood warm as it flows through the whole body. One of the best heated garments manufactures out there from Aerostich doesn't even make the other pieces of heated gear. As a side note. I gave up on Quebec snowmobiling because of the cost factor. I drive 12 hours instead to your U.P. and have just as much fun as I do in Canada. Why do you spend all that extra dough. Gotta save as much mulla as I can to pay for Our new socialized medical care.

Ponters, to ****ed hot yet to try em out

Kingmerle, yes the UP is awesome. I was UP there a half dozen times last year. We do some really nice trips. We have an annual excursion to Ontario, but decided to make the Quebec run this year.
We are planning to do our Ontario run in 2015, then fly to London and on to Sveden. We will rent snowmobiles in Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Then fly to Paris just because we are already over there. Should be a once in a lifetime experience. Our leader has met with guys from Sweden, Finland, and Russia and it is all being planned out. We have a meeting/picnic coming up next Saturday to discuss what is being suggested.

Give a holler if you want to join our group for a ride. We have a chase trailer or two dependingon how many sleds we have and go from place to place with the chase trailer(s) carrying oir luggage etc. We DO put on some miles I put about 2,000 on my sled last year, bought a new one and put 4,000 on her the rest of the season.

Gerbing is the best, i bought the whole set up and ended up returning the pants way to hot. I have the jacket and the gloves they're 9 years old and still work fine. They come with a thermostat controll well worth the extra $$, I paid $60 for it in 2004. The only problem i had was it put me to sleep on long hauls on those fall days.
