Buffetting Eliminated

Took your advice on the lowers and made a set yesterday. They really do work great. In combination with the higher windscreen and blocked off gap over the headlights, the difference is amazing. Thanks for the tip.

Yes - made t hem from what was left of the original windscreen so they're only about 3" (8cm) wide. Does anyone have the dimensions of the OEM lowers? My home-made ones are mounted on a piece of 1 1/2" x 1/8" aluminium angle that is attached at the windscreen mount holes, so I can put any size deflector on that I want. I'm wondering if wider lowers will further decrease the turbulance.

So, do you have to look through your windshield...or still over it? I have had the same buffeting issue and have tried a Cee Baily windshield + 4" still buffeting...had it cut down to 2"+ still buffeting. I added the lowers...and it was better but way too hot in the summer. Now, I'm running with no windshield...and no lowers...just the helmet. I love the bike, but hate the buffeting. It may be the reason I eventually move into another bike.

Have you tried the flyscreen? I get no buffeting, even at really high speeds, just a smooth flow of air over my upper body and you dont need the lowers with it. I think most of those who have one are fairly happy with it.

Does anyone make any stainless adjusters for the flyscreen ... so you can tilt it more or less than standard. Would just need a sort of elongated washer with two holes rather than the single washer that goes between the flyscreen legs and the fork mount kit.

Same thing here. Took mine off last weekend. It seems like at my size it's either nothing or spend 6 to $700 to buy the fixing kit, buy a Triumph shield for parts, throw the Triumph shield away, buy a huge Clearview, buy the world's ugliest lowers and then MAYBE a still air pocket to enjoy. For me, buffeting is the deal breaker on a travel bike.

You should ask for opinions on the Evil Bob flyscreen vs the Triumph model. I have the triumph one but the evil bob type is half the price.

+1. I bought a screen and brackets from Evil Bob. Very nice quality at an excellent price.
