I came from a sport bike in which I could blip the throttle real fast off idle and it would rev with no lag or problems. Not with my Roadster. I will get a back fire through the throttle bodies if I blip the throttle.... sometimes.... not all of the time. I asked a Triumph tech at the dealership what is the problem with the back fire through the throttle bodies? He told me "These bikes just don't like the throttle to be blipped real fast.... nothing wrong." So I assume that these bikes aren't designed for "race" purposes.

I have played around with different tunes using TuneECU and have found the richer tunes will not allow decel popping than leaner tunes. I still get a very slight decel pop but it's mainly in third gear going down a slope. Like in the mountains going down hill. I run 87 octane all of the time

Filtration I have 3 K&N pods under the converted bear claw

Ok, so I filled up with a tank of 87 octane. I have rode just about 40 miles. I am still getting the backfire when the engine is getting around the 1500-2000 rpm. I guess the next thing would be to check the PC

I get a corn-popper effect through my Jardines (no tunes) when decelerating, that I enjoy.
My dealer said business as usual, no concern.
I am oldschool I suppose, but a 'backfire' is at least as loud as a .22 pistol, and I never get that.

Take it to a tuner...you will likely end up with better performance than you have now and he can also likely make any backfire issues go away. If he doesn't then you have eliminated one source of the problem. BTW...stay with them when they tune it and make sure they are actually watching what they are doing and not just loading some canned Triumph tune in your bike.

i have had the decell popping around 1500 rpms for 18000 miles it gets pretty loud after its been riden for a while. i run the premium and it never back fires when you blip the throttle. i think all settings are stock.
i get about 35 mpg the way i drive around town and about 45 on the hwy.
ps i run no cat with tors probably why it pops.

I don't think I'm getting much more than 30mpg highway. I filled her with a fresh tank and only get around 170 miles to a tank?
