    Power Comander Cross Talk

It is what it is. If Carpenter can tune effectively with a PCIII/V why is it no one else can, or is the reality that someone is stretching the truth a little to make their results sound better than they actually were?

    Power Comander Cross Talk

I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm pretty much over discussing PC anything. It's a III and there won't be a V. Other than my old car anything I've ever modified from stock has in the long run been a disappointment from either a performance, or a reliability standpoint.

    Power Comander Cross Talk

Bike runs ok, but never thought it was all that more powerful than stock. Still think I'm going all stock next year minus the TORS and the stock TORS tune. Tired of issues. Just want my reliability back.

    Power Comander Cross Talk

Well I think my power commander is doing some cross talking between the three circuits. When I got my bike back from being tuned this last time from the dreaded lean condition all seemed well. Now that we are in summer mode(hot and sticky) I experienced a bad idle, stall, lower power below 2,000...

    Lifting a R3C

Where do you lift a R3C from? Lifting from the bottom of the engine sump seems kind of scary to me. I'm tired of rolling the bike back and forth to polish wheels and I'd like more room to do oil changes. I might even start taking my own wheels off for tire changes if I had a proper lift.

    Fork Oil

Job is done, but could only manage a quick ride around the neighborhood(40mph winds and very cold). I do feel something different, but must ride for a while to determine if the change was truely good, bad, or just different.

    Fork Oil

Going to try the 50/50 mix of 5 & 10. Job starts tomorrow along with new fork seals to replace a weeping one.

    Fork Oil

Probably been beat to death, but when switching to Progressive front springs is there any benefit to switching to a different brand/type/weight of fork oil? If it isn't something that can be measured by better handling I'll stick with what Triumph recommends. Thanks.

All is well. No more smell. Go figure.

    Funny Smell

I'm convinced I was born 10 years too late. That way I would have reached my crossroad ten years earlier and came out the other side freer(if the drugs 10 years earlier didn't kill me).

Three more of those left until I'm dry, Phil. Probably lay off those until Christmas time. I'm down to 201lbs from 220 a few months back and I haven't really changed my routine much other than walking and my physical therapy. Just imagine what I could accomplish with no beer, soda, or low carbs...

    Funny Smell

OK now I'm really confused. Today I got my big girl out and started it. My volt meter started out at 14.4VDC cold. I let a little heat build up and started to pick up that smell again, but my meter had only dropped to 14.3VDC at this point. I took off the right side cover to look at all the...

    Funny Smell

Well Ruzzle I did the resistance checks today. Nothing, but zero's on all three sets of windings and only .5ohm's of resistence between pins for the harness. So the alternator is f----- as well as the harness. At this point might as well throw in a new battery(chump change at this point). Yea...

    Funny Smell

I'm in suffolk. Well I have tell on myself just a little bit. Last night I went to put my battery tender on my R3C, but before I did that I checked the battery with my Fluke Mutimeter(AN77). It read 24VDC. I'm like what the heck is going on so I touched the leads to the battery on my old hot rod...

    Funny Smell

Not yet ruzzle will do this weekend. When I showed him the diagrams froms from the Triumph service maual a guy I work with who owned a BMW bike dealership back in the 80's said that picture don't look like no zenor diod. He said it looks more like a voltage regulator, but he agreed with the...

    Funny Smell

This check I can do. Thanks Ruzzle. I guess it's a given that you disconnect the battery first? What is the resistance value of the three prong harness when going to ground? My gut tells me that when the system spiked to 24V it trashed my battery? I'll put it on the battery tender and see if I...

    Funny Smell

Ok I got around to checking things out out today. With the tank lifted, an inspection mirror, and a flashlight I saw nothing. I started my R3C. After about 3-5 minutes I started smelling that same weird electrical/plastic smell. I decided to get my fluke meter out an check the charging voltage...

    Funny Smell

I sure do miss those big and tasty red fox squirrels from back home in Michigan. Some of those buggers were as big as a good sized cat. I remember them being tastier than the rabbits we killed when I was growing up.

    Funny Smell

Plan on doing a thorough inspection this weekend with a mirror and a flashlight. Sure hope it's something obvious, but I don't have that kind of luck.

    Funny Smell

Sorry, my bad about the alternator. I'd already planned on lifting the tank to look for the obvious. Just hope it's not something that will take too much digging. I'm not as patient as I was when I was a younger man.
