  1. Anatomy of a rear end failure

Axel, thanks for the support. But no old rim has a ground out inside of the hub. It's toast, perhaps good as a planter?... I'll ask the wife. New..... the tire is mounted and all is well. In fact I have reused my old brake rotor and guess what...... no more pulsing. The Pulsing came from the...
  2. Anatomy of a rear end failure

So new rim received... now getting new tire put on. Here is link to youtube video with both new and old rims side by side. http://youtu.be/dxdSxrTvuU8
  3. Anatomy of a rear end failure

110,00 km 2006 Classic Just had the small $5 spring changed behind the clutch basket as 1 to 3 kept popping out of gear, hard to find neurtal. First and second gear could be held if I kept pressure on the shifter. However, my surprise came during new rubber change. Noise from the rear...
  4. Kill switch, or not?

I have used the Kill Switch while leaving her in gear with clutch pulled in for every shut down since new. Now have about 95,000kms on the big girl. Reason: I like to keep both hands on her bars until I dismount. I started this way and I now do it all the time out of habit, even on level...
  5. Clunky Gearbox?

I've got over 90,000km's on my 06 Classic. I still clunks worst in 1st and less in 2nd.... but certainly better than when new. Maybe 10,000km's before it settled down and has remained the same since then. To be honest, I have had better shifting bikes...... but have come to accept this...
  6. Rockets running rough

I have the exact same year and setup. Do NOT touch your throttle... this will guarantee loping idle. Before I had a new TPS installed, I could get it to start normally only if I cycled the bike on/off through the kill switch or key. Don't bother just hitting the starter button right after a...
  7. saddle bag /cases options?

I bought a Classis with Triumph bags and installed the Leatherlyke Trunk. Holds lots of stuff. One helmet inclosed if you want. Comes with two hooks on back just under lid to hook helmets. I added a light bar to supplement the braking and running lights for those cagers behind us. :p Cheers
  8. Sooty bottom of saddle bags from Tor's solved!

I should clarify that I do have a Tuneboy and PC3 (originally on bike) with map supposedly for tors. It was to rich as observed through the collection of soot. So, when I installed these tips I have zero'ed out the PC3 for now instead of removing it, and used tuneboy and installed the...
  9. Sooty bottom of saddle bags from Tor's solved!

Yes it looks a bit odd without bags. See pics with Newly repaired bags back on. They follow the bag line fairly well. Good enough for the girls I go with.
  10. Sooty bottom of saddle bags from Tor's solved!

I wondered if those triumph extension tips would help the exhaust flow clear the bottom of my leather triumph saddle bags as I was getting tired of cleaning them up. They were about $75 a piece and I never heard of anyone ever buying any. Found these Magnflow 13" 2.75"ID TIPS $40/ea. Just...
  11. Battery Replacement

Just got the same thing here in Vancouver BC Canada at Edmonds batteries. Got a 30% off coupon from their booth at the motorcycle show. It cranks like a hot dam in this cool weather :D Old on left new of right. Identically sized.
  12. headlight insert..

Seriously, I can leave the lights on low beam and see a good distance without feeling the need to put on the hi-beams. Hi-beems to me are so good, I haven't got motivation to put on extra lighting. I also found that if I aim the right headlight a little to the right there is a better...
  13. headlight insert..

I know this is kind of sacreligious? Harley Sportsters fit into our buckets... they work well. :)
  14. "sticking" back brake - smoked pads, cooked disc...

It was number 5 for me. Tech. found that debris had contaminated the master cylinder. I drive in all conditions. That forward facing rubber boot on master cyl. can let stuff by over time. Have them open it clean it and replace seals.. worked for me. Good Luck.
  15. High idle

It's true that there are several sources for high idle issues. If you are experience surging, it may come down to what I experienced. My bike would idle fine, but would stumble at various engine RPM's. i.e. if I held a 1600 RPM it would surge, but not at 2000 RPM; surging at 2300 RPM...
  16. wiring for a GPS

I've taken power for both my Zumo GPS & Sirius Satilite and cruise control off the power wire which goes to the horn. Don't waste your time with connectors, trim the casing around the wire and wrap bare wire to bare wire. Soulder it. Tape and/or shrink sleeve if you've cut the wire. I try...
  17. cams

If I'm not mistaken, I think that Rocket run on the Salt Flats from "Cycle Barn" in WA. had this exaust cam on the intake side change.
  18. Tour Pak

Vinneyboy and I both bought the leatherlyke version. I have the leather panniers like you... it doesn't match exactly...not as big as the hardley... but so far it gets the job done (my wifey started riding her own bike so not much 2 up now) and only for about $500.:D Link Removed

Just got back from a 4000km trip through BC, Alberta, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, BC. Rattle appeared sometime during trip. I'm now up to 41,500km's It's still under warrantee. I'm going to push for that ton's of parts kit. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers,
