Well, that will do it. Forgot to plug it in.

Nevermind, I can connect without starting the bike now. Looks like the TPS isn't working at all. Gonna check the connections.

Alright, new cable is here. These are the engine codes that are showing. Note that I have to start the bike and run it to get it to show up on the app. Gauges don't sweep when you turn the key with the kill switch set to on. Speedo hasn't been working since before the transmission problems. It...

Went ahead and bought TUNE ECU KKL INTERFACE CABLE LEAD FOR TRIUMPH & MORE MOTORCYCLES - Lonelec Seems nice to be able to connect to my phone anyway.

Well, I seem to have lost my lonelec cable. And my old Buell cable won't do me much good.

I haven't been able to open up the speedo because the bolt in the dial is stripped. Only the tach sweeps, and the odometer doesn't always track new miles. The odometer is also faint. I think it had a speed sensor code last time I checked. Will update once I hook up the laptop. My crazy ex...

After taking it for a spin and filling up the tank, the only thing wrong now is the broken speedo. I've been using a phone mount and a speedo app for now. I've seen a few of the threads about aftermarket gauges, and I think I'm just gonna let a shop deal with it. One full tear down and rebuild...

Success! I trimmed it a bit and it shows it's in neutral and will start with the kickstand down. Popped it into first and the bike cut out like it should with the kickstand down.

Hardware store to the rescue. I think I need to trim it.

Yep. I've got the little cap/dowel but no spring. Gonna see if I can find an appropriate spring locally while I wait on the proper one to ship. If anyone knows the dimensions of the spring, that would help a ton.

I'm missing the spring that goes on the little nub in there. :banghead:

Does anything look amiss here? Every time I open it, it's not 'in position' and changing gears doesn't move it until I rotate it into the proper position.

Also worth noting that the engine had been torn apart by the previous owner - I think I got stuck between 3rd and 4th because the dowel that retains the bearing in the main transmission shaft was misaligned, and the cases weren't fully mated. Which misaligned the selector forks just enough to...

    Transmission Woes

Okay, so the gear position indicator shaft is not turning when I shift gears. I could have sworn it was functioning before I put the engine back in the frame. I rotated the shaft until it 'slotted in' and put the small nib back in it, then bolted the sensor back on. About to take it for a spin...

There's not another 3-pin connector I could have confused it with behind this panel, right? I remember there being a few 3-pins, but it does have a little more slack than I would expect it to have. Being that it took me so long to get back to this project, figuring out all of the electrical...

Yeah, I imagine that's why it was running poorly. Using the wrong mapping for the gear it's actually in.

    Transmission Woes

Well, the bike is finally back together as of today. Rode it around the block - all was well, except for the neutral light being on while in second and third. Got back and parked it - the next time I went to start it, the throttle response was awful. Very delayed. Neutral light is acting...

    Transmission Woes

What's weird is that I can' t replicate the issues I was having earlier. I put the output shaft on it and if I gently roll it, I can shift up and down from 1st-5th and 5th-1st just fine. There's also no significant visible wear on any of the gears or dog rings. Could this have been a fluke...
