  1. left him in the dust

True true. My Nephew gets to exercise all the common sense for both of us. The Rocket is his now. I just have to ship it to Hawaii for him.
  2. left him in the dust

OK, I'm either schooled or motivated or both. Thanks
  3. left him in the dust

While I was reading this, I couldn't help but think of the hot Z06 I raced from a rolling 25mph. He jumped first and then I jumped. I stayed with him until the speed limiter. They are very fast. He disappeared on me like I was sitting still and I was going about 125mph. **** Wilson's must have...

  5. Vibrating Mirrors

I've had the same problem on my '06 right off of the showroom floor. It's not bad, but it does blur more unless I'm holding the left handgrip firmly. I'd say the problem is in the mirror body itself. I just look out the right side if I need a good steady look to see if smokey is sneaking up...
  6. New to the site!!

Jon, small world. Welcome! I saw a stock black Classic with saddle bags at Cinnamon and Fox a few weeks back. Wonder if that was you? You make 3 now in a town of only 20,000. I'll be selling mine to my Nephew in Hawaii pretty soon, so Lemoore will be back down to 2 again soon. Steve
  7. up date

Cane, this is a bit off topic, but I just have to smile every time you post a pic showing those jardines:D Nice job on the spoiler!!!
  8. Pipes and tunes? Help

Hope you can find those stolen ponies that the standard RIIIs have. Having owned both an HD with a 103" motor and my current RIII, there's no comparison. My RIII is at least 1/2 again as powerful and waaaaaayyyyyy faster off the line or rolling from 65 mph. No contest. :D When you...
  9. How I fixed my High Idle and low speed stumble issue.

After the dealer performed the recall, all was well for about 200 miles. Then it started the high idle crap. I loaded an older tune several months ago when I had the same high idle problem. So I did the same thing. Loaded the the 20138 tune back in. Used tuneboy to open up the secondaries...
  10. Your bike before your rocket.

    '72 Suzuki TS-50, TS-90, TC-125; '73 Suzuki TC-125; '72 Yamaha 125MX; '73 Yamaha R5 350; '76 Kawasaki KZ-900; '82 Honda XL-500; '05 Kawasaki KLR-650; '03 HD Screamin' Eagle Road King; '06 Rocket III Classic. My favorite was the Yamaha R5. Just wished it had 6 gears and reed valves like the...
  11. Issue with Progressive 440's

I put 20 some-odd thousand miles on my Road King (heavier than my R3) with a set of 440HDs on it. No problems whatsoever. That Road King sat waaaaay more over on the side stand than the Rocket. ;) Hey Speedbike, thanks for passing on the info though. It's good to hear some of this stuff...
  12. Hello from X-Harley Rider....

Welcome. Your post and story are identical to mine. I had a '03 SE Road King. I've been on my '06 Rocket Classic since May and STILL;) DON'T REGRET A THING:D:D You will not be disappointed.
  13. R3 wind deflectors

Flip, I can't remember. Did the mod also fix the rivco riser brake line bracket from hitting the radiator shroud too? Steve
  14. The latest fix for the poor idle / stalling

Sightglass, thanks for the info. I feel better now knowing that my numbers aren't out of whack:)
  15. The latest fix for the poor idle / stalling

Sightglass, Was it 476mm/hg on all cylinders or were they different? Cyl #3 is 15-20 mm/hg less than #1 and #2. Thanks in advance, Steve
  16. The beast passes the safety course!

Baggage, that's how I got the Rocket as close as I did. Have to ride the back brake pretty hard and counterweight a bunch. Just can't do it that way in front of the students. Good thing I usually demo the u-turns on an Elimiator or Nighthawk. Can basically run the whole thing on the edge of...
  17. The beast passes the safety course!

Mitch, congratulations on passing in such great fashion! Wilbur-t, don't fret too much on the small box. I'm a rider coach here in California. We only use the small (20 feet wide) box for the bikes authorized by the MSF. All privately owned MCs use the big box. If I have an afternoon class...
  18. Jardines and Stock Airfilter

Thanks Dangerous, I had some fitment problems. Didn't have the time or patience to fart around with making them fit. I will eventually, but the Jardines are retired to no-man's land in the garage. Back to stock.
  19. MC Cruise Control Info

I too wish we had a 6th gear. 70mph at same RPM as my old SE Road King. I did the throttlemeister myself and REALLY am glad I have it:D Also have the lazybag. Great combo. Now all need is the rivco riser (on its way) and all will be well within reach. Do appreciate the insights. Steve
  20. MC Cruise Control Info

Sidecar, Not sure who are you talking to? If it's me, I just got the pictures. Not my system. You have some good points. I just hope that you also make them with Tony at Motorcycle-cruise as well, especially if puts another well engineered option on the street for us. Some of us may...
