Its the same reason the majority of car drivers don't understand why we ride bikes. Pity me 'cos I have a bent for both, I also have a Bond Bug 'project'. As an 'Ole Codger' you will not need reminding what one looks like!

Sort of, completely handbuilt, not by me I hasten to add. I just got it in bits and sourced the missing parts and rebuilt it. Reliant front end and 850 engine. Only bought bits are mudguards and nose cone. Only 4" from floor to road so feels faster than it is.

Hi Mr Hunt, thank you very much for the photo showing how it is done. I feel much more confident now. I have the 'quad' lift and I believe my brother in law has an appropriate hoist. Will be starting in another couple of weeks when I have sold another 'project' which is now complete but...

Hi, yes, ONLY in 4th gear. Pulls like a train without missing a beat in all other gears.

Hi again and thanks for your suggestions. I have been pontificating and have decided to strip the bike myself. My query now is how do you support the engine whilst you remove the frame. I have bought a 'quad' jack and have a plate to fasten to the bottom of the frame so that the bike is...

Back again!! I tried out the suggestion by The Kid, holding the shifter up in 4th whilst putting it under load and it still jumps. I fear the only option is a strip down so if anyone out there has any videos/notes/advice I will be most grateful.

Thanks everyone for advice to date. Going to try holding the shift in 4th as per 'The Kid' and will report back.

Jeez, What was that mangled piece? I presume that it is accessible behind the clutch without having to remove the unit from the bike.

Ouch! Don't like the look of that. Did you repair/get it repaired and if so what sort of cost?

    Gearbox issue

Hi, I started a bit of a conversation in my introduction regarding an issue I am having when in 4th gear. To recap, when the engine is under load in 4th gear it appeared as though it was misfiring, ok decelerating and overrun. No issues in any other gear. Due to the poor weather I didn't go...

It just momentarily shuts down and then runs again several times in quick succession until I back off the throttle then it runs fine. If I drop to 3rd or change to 5th it is fine. I'm baffled for an explanation. At the moment it's -5c here so not going to be doing any more testing until the...

Thanks everyone for help so far. Its pretty cold here, -3c at the moment, so may be a while before my next update.

Hi, it 'feels' like a misfire. I open the tap and it has this apparent misfire but it does not happen on steady acceleration, overrun and deceleration, or strangely in any other gear.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. Have been motorcycling for over 50 years. Have been riding an 1100 beemer for the last 5 years and having fancied a Rocket decided to get one whilst still young enough! Have imported a 2009 Roadster which was running fine until recently, I now have a problem and...
