How to add mid pegs with front peg controls without buying midpeg mounts

Looks like a cool idea to me. I just suggested doing some mid controls for another riding position in another post and here you have gone and done it in a little different way. That's thinking out of the box! How's your twisty clearance since they don't fold up?

GT forward pegs to mid point

I wonder if anyone has considered just getting a set of mid control pegs and putting them on as an alternative riding position. Just thinking out of the box here. I know, no. brakes and shifter. but who cares. I like my GT riding position, but if you wanted to maneuver around on the seat or...

    Any quickshifter tips??

Sounds like an issue for the dealer since they did the install. I probably won't have that option, as I did the actual installation myself. The distance and setup instructions were quite specific and I followed them to the letter. I am real anal about wire routing and lead dress, so I didn't...

    Any quickshifter tips??

Thanks for the reply...I did a little research after I asked the question and stumbled on that information. It seems simple enough to do. I find it interesting that Triumph didn't include that kind of information in the installation sheets that came with the quickshifter. It would have been...

    Any quickshifter tips??

And what exactly is the learning process? Do you simply have to quick shift up and down through the gears or is it more involved than that? It seems as though the ECU should retain all that information much like it retains everything else when the battery is unhooked.

    Any quickshifter tips??

The comments were all very helpful. I have it all figured out now. I never had an issue with the upshifts, smooth as glass and no miss shifts. Always under power as I already knew. As for downshifts, it's smooth as well with no power applied and shifting under 1500. 1200 RPM is ideal in my...

    Any quickshifter tips??

Thanks for your take on it. I am aware of the actual functionality of the system. My understanding is it cuts the ECU and management of the system for about 15 milliseconds to make the shift. That's way faster than manual shift time which would be more like 500 ms or like a half second. I'll...

    Any quickshifter tips??

I'm inclined to agree with you on several points. I have found the up shifting to go really well and I can miss the dreaded neutral issue by resting my foot with gentle pressure under the shifter. It shifts really quick and smooth. Dropping my foot below and having to do a longer distance...

    Any quickshifter tips??

So I installed the quickshifter myself, being careful to neatly tie down and dress the wire back and out of the way. I took it to the dealer to have it activated and it seems to be working well. I know and understand all the recommendations for when and when you can't use it and it works...

    Evil Knievel Rocket 3 Edition

Well, I don't know if I'm a trendsetter or not, but I traded off my R3T for a GT last summer. One of the guys in our little riding group followed my lead this spring and bought one. He also owns a Triumph Tiger and an Indian Pursuit so money was not an object. If you lead they will follow.

    Rocket owners average age!

I can't remember if and when I last commented on this.... I turned 78 in January and bought a new Rocket 3 GT last summer. I guess I'm not very good at acting my age. 😵‍💫😱

Where oh where are all the Rockets?

I'm going to be seeing just one new GT for sure. One of the guys I ride with just bought the Evil Knievel GT. I may have encouraged a trend...if you lead they will follow. Now there will be two rockets in our small town. I have mixed feelings, as now I won't be the exclusive rocket owner...

New 2.5L owner, things I hate about the motorcycle.

I don't miss them. I had them on my fatboy and R3T. Those little forward controls work for me. You adjust.

Tell them... too bad! 150 miles with 25 in reserve I'm ready for a butt break anyway. 🤣

I have not because I have an adapter I use in the din plug up front. I use the compartment for tool storage and the like.

    Left side cover

I think I have a cover for an R3T in the garage somewhere. I sold one of the two I had a long time ago. Not sure which one I have left, so I'll have to check. Edit: Sorry...If you are sitting on the bike, I only have the right side cover. I must have sold the left cover.

New 2.5L owner, things I hate about the motorcycle.

I put some Grip Puppies on my old R3T but the grips were just way big because of the larger grips to begin with. The GT grips are a little small and could use a set. My question is...how does that affect your heated grip function? Seems like it would be difficult to warm through the puppies...

Picky, Picky, Picky! Are you absolutely sure you didn't miss anything?? OMG..why did you even buy the bike? Get rid of it! You never like everything about any bike. I prefer to ride and just enjoy it for what it is, and that's a lot!

    Connectivity module location for 2.5L

I was looking at the instructions and it looked like you had to remove quite a bit of stuff to get to the mounting location. I have the GT with the pannier mounting brackets installed as well. It looks like those need to come off, the under cover, backrest, fender and taillight. How much of a...
