    Bare metal tank

I hadn't heard of the tennis ball trick. I've Wrench Monkees design elements in mind. http://www.wrenchmonkees.com/motorcycles

I've seen it, and it does look fantastic.

A guy can dream, can't he:)

    Bare metal tank

Lol...aesthetics are all in the eye of the beholder, no? Besides, the tank would be a part of many other mods.

    Bare metal tank

The R3 has a metal gas tank, right? Has anyone stripped the paint off, sanded the metal to get a brushed look, followed by applying some lacquer to keep the metal from rusting? What would be the cons, barring aesthetics, of doing this?

    Hid lights conversion

Don't you need to add a proper HID lens, reflector, and front glass of the light housing (dunno what it's called) to have properly calibrated HID lights?

    An Oil Leak

Yup. My Bonnie's brake reservoir has started to weep;(. So not happy! I'm gonna go with a R3 reservoir soon. It's a direct replacement with better performance and no weeping.

    Wow!?! That's about $1500!

    That's a great rate.

    Insurance

I priced out full coverage with 3k for accessories on both a R3 and a Speedie. The R3 would add $200 to my annual rate; the Speedie $479. The difference between the two accounts for about one tire change for the R3, making both bikes cost about the same. I really thought the tire costs would...

    Insurance

$479 annually, liability coverage 30k, full comp on the bike, $500 deductible, and $3000 for accessories. This was the quote for a 2012 SpeedTriple. The same coverage for a 2012 Rocket3R per year was $212. And I currently pay $190 annually for my 2007 Bonnie for the same coverage.

    Insurance

I'm with Progressive and went through one of their brokers, not online. Also, they're the only insurance company i've ever used and my rates go down annually, and the coverage is slightly increased. But a word of caution about Progressive (which I learned about today and has me thinking about...

    RocketDaryl and his new Bonnie

Got it. I imagine Airtech much cheaper than Triumph new? In all my time owning the Bonnie, I don't recall seeing a seat cowl come up for sale. There is a salvage company on eBay that may have or can find on for you. You have give them a call and not go by their online inventory. I can't...

    RocketDaryl and his new Bonnie

Cool man, I'm glad you're enjoying it. It is indeed a fun bike to ride. As for the seat cowl, are you looking to purchase new or used? I didn't think the new one's were in short supply!

    Gas tank

Bummer about the dent, though it does give character to the beast. Thank you for answering my question.

Is the gas tank on new R3Rs metal?

    RocketDaryl and his new Bonnie

How's the move to the Bonnie from the R3?

    Tires

I'm assuming 12,000 miles...this is by far the best mileage anyone's mentioned...making the R3R feasible for me.
