    Thanks Val. have been on nights so its all blurred! do you mean tapped into the shaft housing? The tap i have snapped off was trying to sort the outer bolt i havn't tried to remove the pin from the housing as of yet. Mal

    Think coil seems to be the way to go. will check leads earth etc but with one plug showing weak spark the consesus on r3.com seems to be plugs not sparking under load due to bad coil. so wkend i will go down that route see how i get on.
