    Rocket 3 GT exhausts.

If you did a full exhaust system, meaning the cat and OEM headers are gone then you need to retune. If it is a slip on then you are fine.

Rocket 3 vs the salt flats why it shouldn't have worked

Keep in mind that bike was a first gen which isn't as stable as the 2nd gen machines.

Rocket 3 vs the salt flats why it shouldn't have worked

I think I am fine leaving the top speed on asphalt an unanswered question. I don't think we need the risk for no reward. Not to mention that in every life there should be a little mystery.

Top speed increase on Penner Tune?

It was corrected for temp and elevation but each dyno is unique and has some variation, if you are doing a pre/post it should be on the same dyno. Dyno to dyno comparisons need to be taken with a grain of salt. I will say based on the RPM and the top speed they said we had, I think the tire...

Top speed increase on Penner Tune?

The Penner tune will give you 0 speed increase, it just gives you more power and torque up to the governed limit. You need to pay TuneECU to get the speed and RPM (+400) unlock features. I forget the cost but something like $39USD or somewhere around there. The Viking exhaust took us to...

    Top speed issue

If we had the traction I think we could have got 160 mph out of it.

Woolich Racing one of Pros in tuning world has released product for Rocket 2.5

I found with the Viking exhaust I lost 25lbs off of the bike and when we dyno tuned the bike we had to take about 10% of fuel out of the top end of the Penner tune. You can't directly compare dynos but we wound up at the rear wheel 172hp and 144ft-lbs of torque. Though based on the top speed...

    Odometer Error?

I average around 45mpg (US gallon) but I have over half of that at 55mph on the highway. Stop and go really hits the mpg hard, and I know for me, when I am over 60mph the mileage starts to drop pretty quickly. The wind resistance starts to really kick in.

    Top speed issue

Here is the chart I generated when we were doing the land speed records. We had the rev limiter set at 6400 which is 400 over stock. This doesn't assume any slippage or tire expansion.

Woolich Racing one of Pros in tuning world has released product for Rocket 2.5

At some point with the power of single board computers, it will be easier to build your own ECU and put it in rather than try and crack the factory one.

Woolich Racing one of Pros in tuning world has released product for Rocket 2.5

I think it would kick in when you start really modifying the exhaust, intake and other internals. When you run outside the parameters of the Penner tune.

Rocket is not a motorcycle one can ride in shorts

No, but I have ridden in 110+F and I still have full gear. I won't ride with out the gear. If you are having issues with the heat there are videos on youtube about how guys in the Middle East and Africa handle the extreme heat. They have a lot of good tips.

Rocket is not a motorcycle one can ride in shorts

I never ride any bike with shorts, ever.

    I've noticed with the Rocket.....

This firm has a good track record and isn't a "scrapper" type of firm. The head of it also has a long history in motorcycles so the consensus is cautiously optimistic. Polaris also kept a stake in Indian so they didn't totally walk away.

Things I've noticed riding in the cold.

Biggest thing I can add is get a set of over pants. I put them on when the temp gets below 45F. You would be amazed at how much warmer you will feel because you are not losing so much heat through your legs.

    I've noticed with the Rocket.....

I looked at a Honda Goldwing but wound up on an Indian Roadmaster. I like the floorboards and relaxed seating position. It is also pretty much a put gas in it and go. Air filter change is a 2 minute job, no valve adjust, it has a belt but required one adjustment and nothing since and that was...

    Annual versus 10,000 mile maintenance.

I have done 10K oil change intervals. I didn't think it would be good until I did the oil analysis and the oil was fine. No increase in wear metals, all was good. The analysis said I could push it more but I like 10K because it is a nice round number to remember.

    Strange Encounter

I would add about 10mph to that range and say it can get to 155 pretty quick and slows down after that and not sure if it can hit 186 (true not indicated) On a closed course mine unrestricted and a @Paul Bryant exhaust hit 173 pretty fast and there was more left in it but limitations of the...

    Tyre pressures

I listened to a podcast a couple of years ago from a retired higher up motorcycle manufacturer tire person and they gave a lot of information on tires. the one thing he said was start out 2 PSI below the max pressure because a lot of the bike manufacturers adjust pressure for the smoothest ride...
