    Exhaust expansion and contraction noises

Rubber grommets/dampeners keeping the shields degrade fast and cut often, rattling even if all bolts are tight. Tried Kawasaki ones, same result. Tried to reinforce them, sometimes it works. Sometimes the tab does not fit inside the grommet's slit when you slide the shield back on. That may be...

    AIS - Reed Valve Location?

It should. If you find a robust cap. The reed valves have their own gaskets buit in. Couldn’t find the box where I put my valves but found these for Speed Triple on ebay and they look the same. They seem to close when the suction is enough in the exhaust port. They are open at idle .

    AIS - Reed Valve Location?

They are routed through the head. See the hole between the exhaust valves. The reed valves were absolutely filthy with a sort of asphalt at 62000 km. I don’t have pictures, I dropped them right into carburetor cleaner.

    AIS - Reed Valve Location?

Here you have the SAI reed valves on the left side of the head cover.

Rebuilding motorcycle after timing chain skip 62K Km

New barrels block, new cylinders and new piston rings kit arrived. Preparing to start assembly process. Since I left the conrods installed on crankshaft (I didn't want to open crankase) AND decided against pushing the pistons up the bores from the bottom ( scalloped barrels come with high risk...

    Aftermarket Fuel Line Connection Replacement?

I won't use metallic connectors on the plastic injector rail. But adding a fuel line extension with quick release, metallic or not, seems interesting.

Video on greasing rear needle bearing

I am only adding that I use the needle with holes along, like a flute. The tricky part is to squirt only “some” grease so the rollers don’t into a hydraulic break

    Interesting oil level check

There is a "barrel" in the crankcase in the middle of the engine. When parked, your oil puddles in the sump. When you start the engine, the oil pump stage1 is collecting the oil from the sump to fill that barrel, separate bubbles, etc. Then oil pump stage 2 is pulling from that always full...

2025 GT Storm: oil leak after switching from forward to mid controls

From experience from industry but depending on circumstances: cast parts manufacturing process (pores, trapped gases, drilling, threading), motorcycle assembling, events when riding. Porosities of the thin cast wall, opened in time or undiscovered just sealed by the bolt. Same porosities exposed...

Rebuilding motorcycle after timing chain skip 62K Km

Thank you. It will be useful soon. I will also need a large collection of harness routing pictures.

Rebuilding motorcycle after timing chain skip 62K Km

New pictures, fantastic adventure. One piston seems to have rings stuck. Its cylinder has strange marks. Got new pistons and rings. Waiting for a new cylinder block. Fixed the cracked front frame lug with 3M DP420 (used to glue mountain bike frames). Medical grade process (wash, degrease, grind...

Fun fact: Rocket 3 cylinder block is Nikasil treated. Nickel-silicon-carbide presence confirmed with a neodymium magnet sticking to aluminium block ;).

Rebuilding motorcycle after timing chain skip 62K Km

I would also advise against it unless one needs to rebuild it completely, for example as regular maintenance for all bearings and piston rings and cleaning everything up. The engine is built in layers like an onion and it doesn’t make sense to tear it apart for no good reason. It could have...

Dipstick tube o-rings are broken. Seems like assembly error - I am not aware of any dismantling operation until now. one chain guide bent and offset (maybe this cause the annoying rattle when hot?!?!). Piston rings are soft at this diameters, I will try to insert the piston from the bottom; the...

Rebuilding motorcycle after timing chain skip 62K Km

Got courageous and pulled the cylinder block. The pistons and rings are filthy. The chain seems stiff. There is no access on the bottom on the crankcase to remove condos, only thin slots to drain the oil. It is not possible to work on condos or crankshaft without splitting the crankcase in half...

Rebuilding motorcycle after timing chain skip 62K Km

Getting warmer, spring is coming:). I think there is a way to separate the cylinder block from crankcase by removing gudgeon pins ang lift the block with the pistons inside while leaving conrods connected. I don’t have to crack the crankcase open but just level the cylinders and lift the blocks...

    No rear brake again

The ABS modulator has a pump and valves. Everything, including hill hold and brake lights, is controlled by ECU. There are no switches. When the bike needs, it will break with whichever brake it needs. Regarding the leaks, fluid grade, etc. it worth to see my post with the study attached.

Rebuilding motorcycle after timing chain skip 62K Km

On Rocket 3 it’s complicated. It seems you need to remove the sump at least to disconnect the conrods that means to levitate the engine. You cannot remove the cylinder head without tearing down the bike because the engine is stress member. Some of the bolts connecting the frame to the engine go...

Rebuilding motorcycle after timing chain skip 62K Km

Coming back with better pictures of the barrel block from an ebay sale. I didn’t dismantle mine yet but I have an idea how to insert the pistons from the bottom. I need to build sleeves matching the scallops and for that I need teflon tube or sheet, some collars and some vise or curved pliers...
