Hello, everyone! After all the fun we had earlier in the month, I figured I’d get out ahead planning for next year. This time we’re going to try to avoid cockroaches and black mold. 🤕 The Trails Inn is bike friendly and more importantly, clean. 😎 I picked check-in on Wednesday the 7th and check-out Monday the 12th. The weather this year was awesome around that time. And it is booked pretty solid the prior week. I think the following week is the dreaded macramé festival. 🤤 Go online and reserve your rooms ASAP. Your card will not be charged and you can opt out the 48hrs before the 7th next year with no charge. There are about six ground floor king/double queen rooms available right now. There are upstairs rooms also available for the younger, more spry people. Rooms are about $80, one of the cheapest in town. These are the rates right now, they will probably go up a bit for next year. There are no kitchens, but there is a deck with a grill where Norm can work his magic. There are supposedly good restaurants within walking distance. Hopefully these dates and this place works for the majority of people. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

If anyone finds or knows of a potentially better place with a good price, please post it. These places seem to book up fast in the Fall.

Another option for those looking for a few more options is a VRBO in the area. We did a VRBO in Garfield (about 5 miles from Rogers on HWY 62) that had a hot tub, swimming pool, three bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, laundry, 3 car garage, pole barn, gas grill, and the list goes on. There are also rentals in Eureka Springs available.

We would have to go with something like this to have everyone at the same place. I think there was about 14 of us when Lupe and his family arrived.

I was suggesting if someone wanted to opt for a bit better accommodation, although I'm not against staying at a motor inn. That assumes you'll have a morning meet up before the day's ride if someone opted to stay elsewhere.

Absolutely. We can definitely make it work a bunch of different ways. I need to look up cabins/resorts in that area. Kinda like Spider Creek but healthier. 🫣 It would definitely be nice to have a kitchen/stove.

I don’t know if any of you are set on Eureka Springs but Lonnie knows this area really well so I am copying a post from the other thread.
@Lonzol
No worries my friend! My thought was something more in the Harrison/Jasper area. Harrison is big enough to have all the necessities/dining near by. Also you can create great routes in any direction from that base area, not much good riding west of ES. Lots of great roads we could take in to the east that are a little far from ES (like "Push Mountain Rd.) and ES is still not far away for those that want to take it in. I was thinking maybe creating long ( 150-200) mile routes and also shorter ( 50-100) mile routes. We could do one big route a day with a lunch stop about halfway, or a short one and be back at base, eat and then go out again for those that wanted to. Just a thought if we get enough interest. I agree that it's a great idea to have a weekend in the middle. The poor folks that still work could take off a little time before or after (or both) and us old retired folks could stay for the duration if desired.

Mindy and I will do our best to be there either way.

This has potential as an awesome base. We have quite a few excellent cooks and lunch is on the road.

Phil,
I went on my recon ride today.
Unfortunately, when I visited the “Harmony Mountain Retreat” I must say that it was a solid mile and a half of gravel/rock/dirt road. (See Pics). To make it short, I would not bring a group here because the ride in and out every day would be dusty if dry and very messy if wet. Also it is miles from the many amenities a larger town would offer. Also the entry driveway is pretty narrow and I’m not sure all the folks that trailer in would have adequate parking without parking on the grass. It does have a fire pit and a lot of outside area, and I think it would be a great venue if you were on four wheels every day.

I called the "Flippin Nickel LLC Cabins", the place I liked, and they only have three cabins, so I didn't even go by there.

I also checked out the “Buffalo Outdoor Center”. They had several cabins but all seemed to be spread out, but they may be worth a look.

I checked out the local motels and cabins in Jasper, most of the hotels were closed down and the “Arkansas House” seemed old and cramped for parking. Some locals told me that the “Dogwood Campground” just north of Jasper has cabins. I rode through there and they seemed very small and it is also hilly with a gravel drive although just off the main road.

Then I went to Harrison and looked at the hotels in town: I drove by but did not stop at:
Super 8 by Windam
Quality Inn Harrison
Holiday Inn Express
Hampton Inn Harrison
Family Budget Inn
Hotel Seville

Of all these I found the Hotel Seville interesting because it is the only one not on the main highway through town. It is downtown and very old (1929) but did offer covered parking which would be great for the bikes. Of the newer hotels I thought the Quality Inn looked best, but you can google each if interested and see for yourself.

I intended to go check out “Buffalo Outfitters” in St. Joe which is a cabin resort but I started to run out of daylight and headed home from Harrison. It is also remotely located.

Simply from a logistical standpoint, I would locate in town. Food, Fuel, Groceries, Shopping, Cell and Wi-Fi service, etc. would sell me. That being said, I know it is very nice out in the woods to be able to gather outside and drink and tell lies!

So that is what I know, whatever you decide on a venue is OK with me. Mindy and I will be there barring something unforeseen regardless of location, even if you want to return to the Eureka area. If you choose to put the location question up for discussion on the forum, feel free to copy and paste any of this information that you choose.

I’ll keep an eye on the forum thread you started, but, let me know for sure when we decide on a location and I will be happy to lay out routes from there.

Thanks, Lonnie

Thanks for looking into all that. I bet it was a nice ride with the fall colors.
We can still drink and tell lies even if it's not outside :D
