  1. Saddlebags

I have a 2007 Classic Touring with the leather saddlebags. They are starting to lose their shape, rivets failing, etc. and I would like to replace them with hard saddlebags. Browsing the internet shows that the only aftermarket hard bags for the Rocket are from Corbin and are super expensive...
  2. Bridgestone Exedra Max

Thanks. Reports sound good to me. Will go with the Exedra next tire change.
  3. R3T tyres

Don't know about their m/c tires, but had a bad experience with Michelin auto tires a few years ago. Paid a hefty premium for what were supposed to be "super-long wearing" tires, and they were shot in half the time of the Coopers they replaced. Personally, I won't buy Michelins again.
  4. Bridgestone Exedra Max

This was posted on another thread: "until then stick with the Exedra Max it will last longer then the Avon and meztler. " Any consensus on this statement? How much more wear than Metzler? Quite a bit less expensive than either Avon or Metzler, so if the performance and tread life is equal...
  5. MPG Milestone

Finally hit the 40 mpg milestone. Took a ride to the UP (Michigan's Upper Peninsula - great riding btw) and had to fill up in a little town on Lake Superior. No 89 octane, so filled up on 91. Then rode the scenic route along the Pictured Rocks to Munising and on to Newberry, a total distance...
  6. "Crash bars" question....

They work! Laid my bike down twice last summer and both times the bars protected both myself and the bike from serious damage. Won't ride another bike without them.
  7. Low Fuel Light

Had some minor body work done over the winter and now, the Low Fuel light comes on regardless of fuel level. Any ideas about what is causing this?
  8. How do I remove Saddle Bags?

Just finished the conversion. Took about an hour and now I only need to take out four bolts to remove the saddlebags instead of fourteen. In order to make this switch, you'll need the following tools in addition to the ones you normally need to remove the bags: 25/64" drill bit, 15/32" drill...
  9. How do I remove Saddle Bags?

I'm always looking for the cheapest solution, so will probably try punching some holes through the back of the bag and rigging some kind of flap to keep out the water (probably a piece rubber with velcro attachments). Screw heads shouldn't rub on anything as they will still be between the bag...
  10. How do I remove Saddle Bags?

It is a pain to remove them so I'm thinking about punching a couple holes in the bags so I can access the frame mounting bolts without removing all the 5mm screws. Need to come up with a way to keep the water out. Will post pics when I figure it out.
  11. Motorcycle Lifts

Thanks for the info. I did pick up the HF lift on Saturday so will be putting it together and trying it out in the next couple days.
  12. Motorcycle Lifts

GR: I see where the brackets are needed for the rear lift bar. Does the oil pan sit on the front lift bar? I'm thinking of putting the brackets on the bike rather than the lift. What do you think?
  13. Motorcycle Lifts

Thanks for the info and pics. Is it safe to assume there aren't any lifts out there that will fit the Rocket without modification?
  14. Motorcycle Lifts

Need some advice on a lift. My buddy has a Pitbull, and I liked it, but the manufacturer says it won't work with a Rocket 3. How about the Harbor Freight or other models? Anyone have experiences with them good or bad? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  15. Buffetting Eliminated

OK, took offf about 3" from the bottom and 1" from the top of the original lowers. Still blocks the buffetting but allows a lot more air to flow around the pipes, so it's a lot cooler. There is a little more noise, but not as much as without anything down there. Making a run to the Tomahawk...
