Question re the new 'Storm' models....

My '22 GT had 2000 miles on it when I bought it last August, complete with spongy rear brake. I had the 2 recalls done (new rear master cylinder and fuse upgrade) and now rear brake is fine. A friend of mine has just bought a new Storm GT, and not happy with the rear brake asked my to have a...

    Ignition Switch?

I had the same problem, and relocated the ignition switch to the L/H side frame infill panel. The old ignition switch still functions as a steering lock. There are people who will make up a plug-in conversion. One such supplier is in the UK, and will post it out to you,... Just Rockets

I am an idiot.. A no start story

It doesn't turn itself off, but leaving it on constantly emits a signal that the bike searches for. Eventually the battery in the fob will fail and the bike won't be able to find it. It should still function as the spare does though in the emergency start procedure. A friend of mine collected a...

    Tires etc.

on 2/ the 240 section is the rear surely, but 16" not 17" ? I've known these fitted and it is said to correct the speedometer error ? The 3% allowance is for circumference of the tyre, on a 16" tyre, 240/55/16 is 3.58% larger in circumference than the 240/50/16, therefore affecting the final...

What do you think about the riding modes? Do you find them useful?

it has to be said that the different modes have a minor effect on ABS and TC, but primarily each map (mainly) has a completely different throttle response. It doesn't produce less power than sport mode. Even in rain mode it's all still there - you just get a smoother, more gentle application of...

stealership rising costs of oil change

On my Gen1 bikes (three of 'em over 17 years) - I've serviced them all myself. No so much as a cost saving excercise - I just don't trust the garages/dealerships to do a proper job ! 😟

What do you think about the riding modes? Do you find them useful?

Well I guess most on this forum must be "Riding Gods" and would never admit to using anything other than Sport Mode. Personally, I love Rain mode when in a lot of city traffic as It makes the throttle response very smooth and is a lot easier to ride in traffic or bad weather. In traffic, road...

Early vs late R111 transmission / drivetrain comparison experiment.

If that's the same in all gears, it sounds more like a final drive/driveshaft/universal joint issue. A friend of mine with had this on an '05 trike. The additional load of the trike caused the universal joint to fail. I'd be tempted to take the bevel boxout and inspect the drive shaft & UJ ?
