    Hanging Around Again

Greetings all, Been a while so I thought I'd post a brief reintroduction. Here's my original post. For a mix of reasons (young kids, money, chronic family member illness, getting my head on straight) I've hardly ridden the R3 over the last three years. I've repeatedly considered selling it but...

Want to Buy Looking for 05 accessories

If anyone has an additional set of crash bars that fit an '05, let me know!

My turn to beat the (long) dead horse...

Stubborn and cheap though you may appear to some, I completely agree with you here. Gets SO OLD to see the same old comments and criticisms repeated endlessly every time the dark side is mentioned. Yep… thanks… noted…

    REAL New Model news

Tough to beat inflation. That day may come, and it might go for three times the price! Which would be about equal to today after inflation. Hard to imagine them going up 5-10x. Then again I didn't buy Apple stock when I thought about it ten years ago so, what the heck do I know…

My turn to beat the (long) dead horse...

To help others know when a tire might be reaching the point where this could happen, what was the tread depth at 5500, either in 32nds or relative to the wear bar? Thanks!

    Another one bites the dust???

Oh I know you're in it. Just wanted to make sure you knew how far it goes. :D

    Another one bites the dust???

Heck yeah it's warranted! Certainly is a long haul though. The first couple hours into eastern Montana aren't much different from ND… west of you is about seven hours at interstate speeds of all the same scenery. :whitstling: Eastern MT has a certain appeal, but things really pick up from...

Calling All Electrical Gurus...Saddlebag Light Wiring Help

See I knew I'd have a face slapping duh moment… the problem of having the blinker flash while braking. Immediately I thought, you probably want some kind of logic circuit to fix that. Definitely looks like that converter (or similar) is the answer.

    Another one bites the dust???

Missoula is good? I’m more into 100% DIY if possible, but it’s good to know they’re an option. 3-1/2 hours is just a small hop down the road out here.

Calling All Electrical Gurus...Saddlebag Light Wiring Help

Since this didn’t get much response, I’ll take a stab at it. I know nothing. Have done nothing. This is probably an ugly inefficient solution, but maybe it will draw out someone who knows the way… I’m thinking in terms of relays. Center light is wired standard. Side running lights power off...

Trouble shifting from neutral to first when @ rest.

Considering less than 3% of cars sold in the U.S. are manual, nearly no one here but truck drivers even knows what double de-clutch means, let alone can do it.

Trouble shifting from neutral to first when @ rest.

It’s funny (and great) how motorcycles are so different from most things in our modern lives. No one would buy a new car and accept “oh that’s normal” after saying it’s not always shifting into first. That’d warrant a big WTF. :D

Why does the manual call for new oil pickup bolts?

That’s constantly my thinking, but it’s a slippery slope. For example I begin tightening the connectors on the low tension leads, and five minutes later I’m thinking about rewiring the entire bike.

Why does the manual call for new oil pickup bolts?

It’s an interesting thought. It definitely affects the torque. Question is, do they just account for that in the instructions? There’s nothing in the manual about cleaning thoroughly before reassembly, so they must assume it’s going to be oil covered. I also haven’t seen the replacement bolts...

Why does the manual call for new oil pickup bolts?

I can tell the longer I hang out on this forum, the greater the extremes I'll end up going to. Having learned to safety wire in the navy (when I was briefly destined to be an aviation grunt), it's been tempting me…
