Rebuilding motorcycle after timing chain skip 62K Km

Are you going to resurface those valve faces? I can't believe how pitted they are. I imagine the seats in the head are similar.

    Crazy ignition skip under load

Can you get your hands on one coil/lead combo. Use it as a test, swapping each coil at a time to see if you can isolate the potential coil issue??? You can also test the resistance of the coils on the primary and secondary side but this doesn't always catch leaking insolation on the secondary...

Gas cap won't open at all

With the 1st gen Rockets I like the fact that one key is needed to open the gas cap and run the bike. This is super convient because I know where the ignition/gas cap key is at all times (in the ignition or gas cap)... Since the bike has to be shut down to fuel up (in our province) I know I...

    Coolant Choices

This is what I use. It is an HOAT coolant which is what the early Rockets called for. I imagine the new ones would use the same. PS. The color of the coolant usually doesn't mean anything (unlike the old days). The make up of the coolant determines if it can be mixed, not the color. If...

1/8mi drag race Touring vs the GT

Kevin, I have no experience racing engines but I've read that using a vacuum pump to create a vacuum in the crankcase can reduce blowby gases by helping to elimate foaming in the oil. It also helps with the horsepower because the pistons do not have to compress the air in the crankcase on the...

Emptying rear brake reservoir but no leak

????? I've taken many master cylinders apart over the years and the diaphram was never perforated. It is designed to move up and down with the brake fluid preventing air and moisture from entering the fluid reservoir. Now as the fluid level goes down a vacuum is created below the diaphram...

Emptying rear brake reservoir but no leak

Actually, for practical purposes they are sealed by a rubber diaphram which sits between the fluid and the cover. As the brake pads wear the fluid in the master cylinder reservoir is used, displacing the outward movement of the caliper pistons as they compensate for the pad wear. The diaphram...
