has anyone ever removed the ujoint and taken it in to a bearing shop to have it measured and matched? i had good luck doing that in the past with bearings and ujoints.

I haven't done that, but I'm confident it could be matched. I've thought about that every time I've removed the shaft.

my 07 book says it is a hookes ujoint.
i would think that anyone could mic those joints

Do u think something is wrong with yours?

Its just a hunch. I get a "feeling". The faster i go the more i feel it. Ive only had it a month and a half. Seems to be more noticible. I dont hear anything. I had the back wheel up and spun it as well as the front, and heard nothing but brake pad noise (normal). Im pulling the rear wheel off to check the bevel and grease it (and the wheel bearings). If i see nothing ill pull the swing arm to check the ujoint. I also plan to look under the boot and see if i can detect any play. Hope its nothing further in the case.

Regarding matching it:
I google "ujoint for rocket 3" and got sites that showed 3.219 length x 1.062 cap diameter. Inches i guess. I found that dimension on 2 different sites. Cant reall tell til i pull it.

I wont know til i measure the real one but those dimensions sound a little big

the clips look like tension u joints and they r a few thousands bigger that the regular joints. just for info
some of the guys have reported that they have torqued the rear axle to the book and developed noises
