i have been looking at large bags and these are shown available tor the r3.was wondering if any captains had or have these and if the fitment was a problem and have they held up.they are hand laid fiberglass and carpet lined so maybe a little stouter than some ive seen.
Haven't seen these on a Rocket yet but plenty on Thunderbirds and Speedys/Americas. They are nice bags and will hold up well if fitment works. One of my friends has some on his America and they're awesome. He's had them on there for several years now and not an issue.
they look great on your bike but hope i dont have to lower pipes.if i do is that a big
issue?
i have the kentucky drive with the key quick disconnect and really hate to take them of as they look like they were meant for the r3, but thought i would try hard bags, you know have to keep modifiying or wont be a true r3 captain...lol
I'll be selling my beautiful Mad Dog exhaust system soon, Vulcan. They are extremely well made and good loking slip-ons from Australia and they are parallel to the ground, unlike our OEM, upswept exhaust pipes. They also make a bit more hp and torque while sounding sweet as hell. You would not have to modify them for the bags to fit. LMK via PM if you have an interest in these :
thanks phil thats something to consider, however i am running the TORS w/cat delete,so not sure if i would gain much other than a little better sound.whats your take on this?
It really is not a big deal. Loosen the holding bolts. Lower the pipes to where you like them, put a block of wood under the mufflers to support them.I used pieces of 2" x 1/4" flat bar x 3" long to span the new gap. Drill holes approx 2" apart big enough for the mounting bolts to fit through and bolt it all up. Drilling oversize holes gives you some room to tweak. You will need 3 extra nuts & bolts.
