Has anyone experienced any negative results by doing this ? Can you still whack the throttle open at low rpm without it stumbling ? Any feedback on this greatly appreciated. Fred

Had mine removed, and no stumbling whatsoever. Sharper initial response with no downsides that I can see (unless you drop one of those little grubscrews into the TB's)

For less stumbling, remove secondaries and fit a supercharger. It doesn't hesitate then.

Ok, how about adding this in to the above question........Can the secondaries be removed from a stock motor with stock ignition and a stock ECM. I'm trying to say "No Tuneboy".

When I spoke with Richard from TTS last year he stated that removing the secondaries isn't going to make a lot of difference. He said just set them to WOT all the time and no worries, plus if you want some of the daily driveability back, just set them to open like stock.

The cross bar they mount to is just as thick as the throttle plate itself, so tuning them wide open shouldn't make much difference than removing them.

Why not get Tune Boy and load a basically stock Full Power Tune and get more power throughout the ban instead of just when the secondaries would be closed?

Besides if you want to eliminate secondaries, why not eliminate the stock airbox snorkel, go triple K&N's and TuneBoy for some real improvement gains across the board?

We seem to revisit this A LOT, but that is one of the benefits of a forum, you can ask questions and get a ton of answers. Richard from TTS (They install awesome blowers) says it doesn't make much difference. True enough on the dyno, probably almost NO measurable difference. Seat of the pants dyno is a whole nother ball game. Most of us who are not riding on the drag strip or timing course can only judge the potential of this locomotive without rails by just wacking the throttle every now and then. The throttle response you feel then is dramatic. If you use Tune Boy to set them open 100% YOU WILL NOT feel the same thing. This is a small point but leads to a lot of confusion. The ECU reads a different map for idle, and tune boy DOES NOT set that map open to 100%. As soon as you hit the throttle (come off idle) the servo motor cranks them open to the map Tune Boy has set at 100%. But it doesn't do it as fast as you can twist your wrist. If you are on the dyno or the drag strip you are set. But for the average dork like me just screwing around from traffic light to traffic light removing the secondary plates results in a more dramatic seat of the pants response, and a little rougher time for the ECU to manage the idle, (most noticeable when it is really hot.)
