Relatives , old pics and motorcycles

Fast enough for me in 1985 and good for 100000 miles ,of looking and sounding great before any problems, nothing I have owned before or since can beat the sound of a 1340 Shovel under load those Staintune exhausts are still as good as they day they were put on, an old friend I will never part with
 
Me and my gpz 250 in early 80's I had it up to $175 . if you notice it has twin front disc and belt drive ! it had 33 hp is that about what your harley has Ken ?

Bwaaahaha A stock 1340 shovel was good for 65Hp and with a free flowing exhaust and air intake 75 Hp ,and a torque range as flat as a table from idle, but gee they lopped along nicely at 100Kph with that rubber mounted engine just rocking back and fro, a completely different ride to my earlier triumphs and later big Jap bikes ,almost as good a Mile eater as the Touring.
 
This was a 1939 Chev. My Grandfathers shop truck when he had the Slaughter Yards and Butchers Shop in Woodenbong. Hundreds of butchered bullocks were carried from the Slaughter Yards to the Shop on the tray of that truck. A burning tree fell on it on the road down into Woodenbong about 500 yards below where Mum and Dad live now. It was a forked tree, the main trunk went over the bonnet and the smaller fork over the tray. This happened in 1942 my Grandmother was the most seriously injured with both legs badly broken and misscarried twinns. Grandfather and dad who was 2 got cut badly by the broken windscreen. Dad has a big scar on his forehead and one on his arm. Dads older brother Reg who was 5 was uninjured. The photos are not very good they were handed to my Dad in a pub in Grafton by a man he didn't know about 30 years ago. The street sign in the right of the photo is at the bottom of the main street in Woodenbong and the gum trees behind it are where the Woodenbong pub now stands.

 
Gee Bruce you are lucky to be here at all, a couple of feet further and it would have been a lot worse, it's definitely a 39 Chev commercial, the 37 and 38 commercials had a simular grill to the sedans but the 39 commercial grill is completely different to the 39 sedan's grill ,also only the 37 Fisher bodied 37 Chev commercials have swages in the roof like a 44 gallon drum to stiffen the roof a great photo from the past, with a lot of family History

My Grandfather (BUTCH) replaced it with a new 1941 model dad said was exactly the same other than this one was green and the new one was red. He had the red one till the early 60's when he replaced it with a Datsun ute. I remember the Datsun I was amazed at how well the old pic's scanned a friend of mine has a good scanner so I got her to do them as my scanner is not that good. The old pic's were about 2inches x 3inches. if you look closely you can read E. JEFFERY on the drivers door. that isn't visible with my eyes on the photo.
 
Dad on the first test ride of my trike we were building this was about 1982. Me on it 1982 and my son Kane about 1993 just before I sold it.
