What a let down, I do believe the weather channel gave it too much hype up north. It's the poor folks around the southern shore line that took all the pounding.

We did get one hell of alot of rain, but the wind was mild.

Still down in Va. I called home and they have no power now, but no trees down. When I do get home I have a lot of cleanup to do. I was going to try and get home tomorrow but don't think the road will be open yet. I have to go through NYC to get home.

You call this Irene a hurricane???

Just kidding...I know those not used to sustained heavy winds (though Irene was pretty light) for several hours at a time...this was probably a daunting experience but be glad you didn't get one of our Ivan's, Katrina's, etc that get plenty of time to warm up in the gulf before heading in for showtime.

Hope everyone is well and didn't have any or not much damage.

Dennis

No real damages where I live, I hear that coastal areas of NC took a hit and typical of this stuff, ends of fishing piers were sheared off, flooding, etc. I was out riding yesterday but I had the good sense to ride West instead of heading East. Compared to Fran which ran right over my house years ago and took all of my shingles with her, this was nothing, but other areas where they don't get these events were ravaged.

Mostly a non-event here in Fredericksburg, VA but around my boss's house 20 miles east it looks like a bomb went off.

Even though some of you might dismiss the severity of the storm, it's still a catastophe to the family that's watching their home float down the street whether it was done by a Cat 1 or a Cat 5 hurricane. Please don't call them pussies and such. Just like Katrina, Ike, and the other big ones, it's not the wind that does the most damage. It's the flooding that kills and causes the most damage. Turn on the TV and look at what is happening today in VT and NH.

Look at it this way, maybe the NE will now be more sympathic when another big one blows through the Gulf coast.
