I think I've looked all through here for helmet information...
I am looking for a light weight DOT approved helmet. A 1/2 helmet maybe even a 3/4 helmet. I really like the novelty helmets, and found some one time that claimed to be as small as a novelty helmet but were DOT approved. They are no longer on the website where I found them. I don't know if they weren't really DOT approved or if they weren't as light as advertised. Anyway, if any of y'all know a good helmet site, let me know. Or if you have a favorite helmet you think I might like, let me know.

I have a HJC full face and an HJC Sy-max2 modular helmet. I love the Sy-max2, but I want something open for riding too.

Thanks guys

+1 on the Shoei St. Cruz for a 1/2 helmet! If you want a half helmet it's about the best one on the market. Comfortable and fits according to their sizing chart.

Thanks for the fast replies guys.
I looked at the Shoei St Cruz, not a bad looking helmet, I'll try one on next time I get a chance. I'm going to the motorcycle show in Atlanta later this month, maybe they'll have one there.

and thanks for the link marcus.

Are you going to ever put a headset into your helmet? If so go to J&M Headsets http://www.jmcorp.com/AraiHelmets.asp and ask them for the prices on different color helmets. Sometime they have really good deals on certain colors with headsets already installed in them. I got my red Arai 3/4 with a very expensive quality headset for $340. Arai helmets are not cheap!!! The insides do not come out to clean but this is no problem I just use a little cleaner on a wash cloth every once in a while to disinfect and clean the surfaces, especially in the Summer.

my dad has the scorpion 3/4 with the glasses that slide down (similar to the ones in the sy-max2) he likes it, I haven't had a chance to see it yet though.

and, no, I don't plan on putting a head set in my helmet. Thats one thing I love about riding, I don't have to talk to or listen to anyone. If I really need to talk, I can shout when I get to a redlight. But thanks for the info.

I love the Shark.... That's great. Thats what I hate about my Sy-max2, I can't ride with the chin piece up. I think the shark would be perfect for me. I'll deffinently be trying one on when i can find it. But I would still like a smaller helmet too just for occasional use.
