  1. leather conditioner

what do you recommend to treat or condition your m/c seats ? i've heard everything from babyoil (great for automobile soft tops, but i'd not sit on the stuff and risk dark shades in the seat of my pants) to HD's minkoil conditioner. the desert sun here in nevada is brutal on leather and plastic...
  2. 2005 Rocket iii

how much is the owner asking for the thing ? i have that same bike, red, all stock, perfect (literally) condition with only 1200 miles on it. the mrs thinks i should sell it, 'cause i clean it as much as ride it :?
  3. whats the best battery ?

yes, i am aware of the odyssey pc625. however, i dont want to file on the box, or be concerned with possible low charging issues. thanks in advance for your replies :)
  4. whats the best battery ?

who makes the best battery for the rocket ? i want the thing to fit without modification to the battery box.
  5. Has your R3 backfired??

could altitude be an issue for you ? i know my bike backfires pretty good coming off the throttle up in the mountains outside of las vegas. it doesnt seem to do it any other time. . . i run only 91 octane fuel.
  6. extended idle in traffic

i was crossong the hoover dam today (always a scenic ride thru the canyon and across the dam) and was forced to sit in stop and go traffic for what seemed like an hour, both ways. you know, the nasty move a foot forward at a time kinda traffic :x **** those pedestrian tourists, everybody go...
  7. underseat filter.

i didnt notice any difference in performance. i did notice that the K&N does'nt seal as well (it has a rather stiff flexible lip around the ends vs the thick foam rubber sealing material used by triumph). had i read this post a week ago, i would have sent you mine for the cost of postage. i...
  8. cold weather starting

we have had a few mornings around 20 degrees, (thats unusually cold for the nevada desert) the low 40's is more common this time of year. we generally have a wide range of daily temps as no cloud cover to help stabilize the temps between night and day. this moring it was 40 degrees at 4:30...
  9. cold weather starting

sometime ago, i posted concern about a metallic sound occasionally coming from my starter motor when starting the bike in cold weather. many of you may have have seen the post, "starter engagement". i have not noticed the problem in the last several (i estimate 20-30 starts) now that the...
  10. TOR's with Cat bypass video

thankyou for this post. i was ready to order a cat by pass and TORS until i heard what they really sound like. i prefer a lower throaty rumble (a carry over from my v-twin days i suppose). the TORS are a bit to raspy sounding to me, a little like those "belch pipe" mufflers some kids are...

bfreesun Posted: Wed Nov 29, 2006 11:14 am Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "too hard, too soft, or just right ?" My wife says "Just Right"<G> i'm sure she was just being polite. . .
  12. too hard, too soft, or just right ?

anyone here have a favorite tire pressure (front and rear) ? i have tried the recommended psi per the owners manual, but feel the tires to be just a bit soft. right now i'm running 36/44 psi.
  13. Is anybody using this oil filter?

i've never tried a washable oil filter. my concern would be that i would'nt get all the crud out of it, not to mention the extra time needed to service the thing. personally, i like to be able to unscrew the old, install the fresh clean filter, and be done with it in almost no time. i hear that...
  14. Storing Bodywork / Tins - Rust Protection?

my advice is to stay away from any silicone based oils or grease, just because they tend to get into the pores of the metal, and you may have paint adhesion problems in the long run. any chance you can just give them a good shot of WD40, (dont wipe off) and store them inside your home where...
  15. oil filters@oil

i have heard about people using shell rotella or other diesel engine oils in their motorcycles, usually because of an "assumed" cost savings. the rotella i know is conventional oil, not semi or full synthetic, and has more detergents than you'll ever need or want, in a new gasoline engine...
  16. Dumb question, maybe

how'd i get my response posted twice ? i am sorry about that guys. perhaps i should take down that mirror i have hanging in the office. but then i won't have anyone to talk to. . . :(
  17. lighter oil = more power

i changed oil today, from amsoil 20w50 to amsoil 10w40. (its winter here in the southwest USA). i did a few miles warm up ride, dained the old oil, and put in the fresh. i have to admit , there was a significant difference in how easily the engine rev's, and it feels like the bike accelerates...
  18. Dumb question, maybe

there should be three hoses. i think more likely the hose wasnt routed correctly, or the same as before. i understand the hoses are for the coolant, the oil, and fuel vents. what was done? it might help you find out where they put the thing.

  20. coolant leak

my R3 is already marking its territory. i found a blue/green spot on the floor under the water pump. the trail seems to be coming from one of the upper bolts on the outside of the pump, not the square vent slot on the underside. anyone here ever seen or heard of that ?
