    Rocket 3 Roadster Possibly Overheating?

Drain it by disconnecting the hose out the bottom of it, from the side of the filler neck, just under the rad cap. You could also just unbolt the expansion bottle and leave it hang upside down. You're just trying to prevent what's in the bottle running out when you remove the rad cap. If you...

    Rocket 3 Roadster Possibly Overheating?

Looks like this might be the problem here so. The air temp and coolant temp are good. Seems like air got into system as above. You don't have to take the bleed bolt out altogether, just loosen it maybe 3/4 of the way out until coolant starts to run out. Then tighten up. Bike leaned over to the...

    Rocket 3 Roadster Possibly Overheating?

You also haven't press the cap down and then twist. There's a step there to stop it opening unintentionally

That's it there (yellow arrow). It's good for bleeding the cylinder head. Notice how the rad cap/filler spout is higher in the system. Need to manipulate air out that way too. But first drain the expansion bottle so it don't run out the filler spout.

    Rocket 3 Roadster Possibly Overheating?

Should be OK yeah. This isn't a big thing, just want to check the sensor calibration isn't way off. I highly doubt it is.

    Rocket 3 Roadster Possibly Overheating?

OK. The air temp will change a lot faster than the coolant so need to make sure that the ambient air temp is fairly steady for a several hours first. Nighttime temps can change rapidly. Best left until mid late afternoon or such.

    Rocket 3 Roadster Possibly Overheating?

Is this the same dealer that had it recently? Not sure if they're bleeding it right. Just to verify the temp gauge is reading somewhat accurately. Could you leave the bike acclimatise for several hours then check what the ambient/intake air temp is and the coolant one too. They should be close

So there was trapped air in it? Run OK/normal temp now?

R3 classic running like a twin. Backfiring and stumbling

Good man you found the leak so. Classic vacuum leak strikes again. What are your throttle balance numbers now?

R3 classic running like a twin. Backfiring and stumbling

Unless you busted a head gasket, piston ring or dropped a valve then the cylinder will still pull a vacuum whether it is firing or not. Highest probability here there is a vacuum leak on the tube or the blank cap, also check the boot that connects throttle to cylinder head, seen them cracked...

R3 classic running like a twin. Backfiring and stumbling

Looks like you got a vacuum leak on #2, and that's why it running so bad. 880hPa is normally seen when at like 50% throttle, so when the ECU sees this is dumps in a lot of fuel, to try maintain correct AFR. Trouble is, the actual amount of air going in is still a trickle as the butterfly is...

    Rocket 3 Roadster Possibly Overheating?

If the cooling system worked ok before but then not so good, and was due to trapped air, the only way i can see it getting into the system (aside from someone opening the system and not bleeding it properly after) is if the expansion bottle ran dry (say from a faulty rad cap allowing coolant to...

    Rocket 3 Roadster Possibly Overheating?

First thought would be trapped air in the coolant system.. wouldn't assume the service did it properly but the problem was there before the service. Still I'd like to bleed the system properly and see if there was any air trapped. Next would be fan issue e.g. the relay going faulty. But it...

    TTS install question

Thanks, it's a different one to 10 years ago so. Might still be el cheapo, but at least it's the right colour. Wonder will the insides hold up long term against the DOT4. Time will tell I suppose

Running lean after supercharger and tune

It can be done. I run a 2.5 bar BMW MAP sensor, made up an adaptor plug to connect it to Triumph harness so nice and clean. Also the plug has 2 sets of wire, one to run to the Triumph harness (ECU) and the other goes to the Power Commander. Due to going from the stock 1.x bar sensor to this 2.5...

    Tune ECU connection

Yeah that looks right. And if using a cable to Android device the adaptor must be an OTG type. Non OTG ones will result in connection issues.

    Tune ECU connection

Strong probability that the cable is the problem. Only get the Triumph one from www.lonelec.com, don't trust anywhere else But Firstly, does the cable you have have an adapter to connect to whatever connection your tablet has? If so, is it an OTG type adapter?

    Clutch upgrade

Yeah if you go with an aftermarket clutch fibers set e.g. MTC, you leave the anti judder washer and spring (coned washer) out or they jam up the clutch. You'll know coz if fibers are all the same inner diameter then no need for the washer and spring. My MTC fibers clutch works fine without...

    Clutch upgrade

Yeah that's ok, the wavey washer goes between the pullrod and the clutch nut on input shaft, to dampen the pullrod bouncing around. The pullrod needs to have play when lever not pulled so as to not interfere with clutch pressure.
