    Just read it again now I'm woken up a bit. Looks like not used Barrett clutch fibers yet, just their cable. Have you got photos of the old and new parts, and the work as you went? Quite a few things spring to mind that could cause this.

    Does the Barnett clutch kit require you to leave out the anti judder spring ring? Like are all their fibers the same internal diameter. Notice the OEM fibers, the innermost one has a larger internal diameter to allow space for the spring ring.

    Did you have the engine upside down to get at the transmission? Oil could have seeped down into the combustion chamber, from the camshaft space through a valve too.
