    I think it's because of the symptoms he's having. The limp clutch arm (if it had not been removed from the lifter shaft) kinda indicates there might be something wrong with an internal part of the clutch actuating mechanism.

    After market mirrors

    I'm running the Triumph accessory mirrors in the stock position on my Touring and am happy with them. My bar end is occupied by a throttle lock device so mirrors at the bar end would mean I'd have to give that up.
