    For Sale ***SOLD*** 2012 Carpenter 240 R3R

I'm with you, Jesse. A Carpenterized Rocket with the trans upgraded by Robinson is a unique motorcycle, in a class of its own. Kind of like having a Shelby Mustang. But not everyone can appreciate what you have. There's a lot of riders that don't even know what a Rocket 3 Roadster is. I...

    Considering an 07 R3

Sounds like good advice. The issues does seem like the linkage is dry and sticky, not returning to idle. The return spring tension is greater at full throttle & gets weaker as it unwinds. Over the years I've had issues with bikes idling fast because the throttle linkage had too much stiction...

    Carpenter 240 Kit questions

Congrats! I had mine done by Carpenter at 45,000 miles. It was no slouch before, but Carpenter awoke the sleeping giant. Now it runs like a 6 cylinder.

    Carpenter 240 Kit questions

Mine is a 2014 Roadster. No trans problems until the engine was hopped up at 45,000 miles. It could be coincidence, but, considering that the circlips are known to fail, why not have peace of mind. I only logged a few hundred miles on my Carpenter engine before I had to pull it for trans...

    Carpenter 240 Kit questions

You're using DOT 5.1? DOT 5 is silicone based and not compatible with DOT 4. I don't think it's recommended for ABS either.

    Carpenter 240 Kit questions

"hurt my ears" I should have previewed it.

    Carpenter 240 Kit questions

I ordered Carpenter's exhaust with mine. But they don't put a baffle in unless you order one. It hurt my ears, so I ordered a baffle.

    Carpenter 240 Kit questions

I got the 210 kit and Carpenter dynoed it at 230 HP. It came back with the throttle bodies devoid of air filtration. They threw away the intake runner plumbing. I'm not complaining, just giving you a heads up. But the bear claw was still in place, so I'm running it around the desert sucking...

    Transmissions- how common?

As they say, "If you gotta ask, you can't afford it." I saved a lot by pulling the engine and reinstalling it myself. Some Captains go further and save by disassembling the engine, too. Then they send the trans parts directly to Robinson. That also saves on shipping because the components are...

    Transmissions- how common?

At about 45,000 miles it started dropping from 4th to 3rd under load. If I held a steady speed in 4th, it seemed to be OK, but, if I twisted the wick, it could suddenly jump out of gear and grab 3rd without even touching the shifter. Once that happened, I immediately parked it and started...

    Transmissions- how common?

Uh, mine's a 2014. Definitely had issues It's the luck of the draw. But, after Robinson Industries did their magic, I'm good to go.

Is there a upgraded/heavier duty circlips for the Transmission

Robinson Industries has a better circlip. But I think they have to remachine the groove in the shaft in order to fit it. They also offer a billet 4th gear and gear backcutting. I'd recommend sending the trans components to them to be reworked.

    '14 R3R tranny blew up (46,000 miles)

Glad no one was hurt. Assuming it's out of warranty, it might be best to find a replacement. But, I would have the replacement's transmission reworked by Robinson Industries. They do some upgrades and offer a billet 4th gear. My 2014 R3R 's transmission started acting up at 45,000 miles. I...

    Part Location?

You're welcome. Getting old ain't a pretty sight. When I was a young man, my Dad told me, "Son, don't get old". Too bad he didn't tell me how to not get old. But I'm still riding - 4 motorcycles and 2 pedal bikes. Met an old biker once who had 5 cycles and still rode at 91.

    Part Location?

Duh and Thanks. I'm not sure why i forgot that, but you're right - I hadn't pulled in the clutch. I can come up with some excuses, none of which are good enough. Here's a few - 1) I'm 72 years old 2) I also ride two Harleys that don't need the clutch pulled in to start 3) I've only ridden...

    Part Location?

Thanks. I also found it in one of the pictures I took during disassembly, but that pic was blurry and I didn't recognize it until I looked closer. Now I have to figure out why it won't crank. Everything lights up, but it doesn't crank. Kickstand is up, e-stop is in run position, key is on...

    Part Location?

I pulled the engine from my 2014 Rocket Roadster and just put it back in. I don't have any leftover bolts, but I have a part which needs to find a home. Recognize this?

Swing Arm Install - got it done!

Yeah, you're right. After posting, I took the extreme measure of looking in the service manual. Put the shaft on 1st, then swingarm. It worked. I did turn the drive gear a little so the driveshaft settled into the rear drive unit. It's the reverse of how it came out. makes sense. Thanks.
