    Bad taste for Triumph

A friend of mi.e had a similar problem getting parts for his new Tiger. The starter went bad and he was down for quite a while. Fortunately, he has several other Triumphs to ride, but that isn't the point here. He went on Facebook and posted a complaint about how long it was taking to get...

    Belt Chirp

I don't know if it is good to use on a drive belt, but at an auto parts store you should be able to find belt dressing for the serpentine belt in a car. Several of my friends that were in the maintenance teams in the Air Force say honey works just as well also. Again, I am not sure that...

    Autotune Settings

I dont have the temp sensor hooked up on mine. It's set to default which is to run for a minute and then start monitoring. I run it continuously. I got a tune from Hanso that approximates a Wayne Tripp tune. Ask him about it, it runs quite nicely.

    OBDII reader app

Has anyone tried using one of the OBDII apps for Android/IPad on there R3? I am running a R3T and have only a speedometer and fuel gauge and would love to have a tachometer at the least. It also seems cool to me to have a GPS/mapping device running that runs Google Maps while road tripping...

    Rim Cleaning Tips

I found kerosene removes all the road scuzz and such quite well. Wipe them down with it and then wash. You don't get a high luster shine like a good polishing, but it is much quicker and gets them clean.

    New Tire, Tiny Puncture

I got a leak dead center in the tread on the rear tire of my Sprint when I had that. Brand new set of Pirelli's too. I almost cried. It was a wee little one like yours. I did the slime treatment and it held to upwards of 100mph. I wouldn't worry about spiking the tire. It will work and...

    What base map?

I have the skinny tire type Touring. You sent me your PCV map converted from a Wayne Tripp tune over on the .com site. It is loaded and so far seems to be running fine. I am just wondering if the differences that the base map has in controlling the secondaries and such is worth changing...

    What base map?

So I have the triple K&Ns with the extra two filters and the TORS on my 08 Touring. When I bought it I was told that it had the correct Triumph map installed for the TORS and original air filter configuration. I have opted to keep my secondaries at this time. With my current setup I am using...

    Injector cleaner

One could also use a few ounces of marvel mystery oil or, a cheaper alternative is regular ATF. They are both pretty much the same ting and will clean and lubricate all the top end bits

    Help With Dyna Beads!

I don't recall the name of the brand of balance beads I used in my tires. My Dad used them in his Goldwing and said they went in easy. Supposedly they are smaller than Dyna beads. Anyway, I tried for half an hour and don't think I got any in. My Dad got all three ounces in the tire in...

    Fuelling and pressure query

Higher fuel pressure would give more fuel per squirt, but the bigger advantage would be the better atomization of the gasoline. If a person were skilled enough, couldn't Tuneboy or Tunecu be used to correct the time the injectors are open to keep the amount of fuel delivered equal? On an...

    Mileage and the R3T

I have never actually calculated my mileage; just estimated quick in my head to get ball-park mileage. Its always been about 33mpg. Thats just me on the bike with the summer windscreen, or me and my girl friend w/ screen, or me, the girl, the trailer loaded up and the screen. City or highway...

    Orange tag trick

I always put assemblies back together as they come off, that way I don't have to remember where all the bolts and such go. Wires and such get masking tape and labeled in matching pairs of letters. It works. I like the orange tag idea though. I can get huge bags of tags like that at work.

The first self starting jet powered bicycle in the world!!!!

Don't doubt bicycle tires. A guy in the local BMW group has a home made trailer that uses bmx wheels and tires. He runs in the 70's and 80's with his gear loaded on the trailer and has never had a problem with it. He is so confident that he would haul his former dog around on it in the pet...

    Quick speed/rpm question

Yeah, I don't really think those numbers are right either. The only thing I can think of is that maybe Triumph included the primary drive ratio in the ratios for 1st thru 5th. But changing the primary drive to 1 doesn't really change things either. I honestly don't know. I didn't source...

    Quick speed/rpm question

    Motorcycle gear/rpm/speed calculator Here is a web calculator for speed and rpms. I used 2500 rpm for a redline, primary ratio 1.034, 1st 2.929, 2nd 1.947, 3rd 1.435, 4th 1.160, 5th .964, final 1; tire size is 180/70r16. It says about 160 in 4th and 193 in 5th. That seems off to me, but...

    Quick speed/rpm question

I have an excel spreadsheet I made back when I had my 2003 Sprint ST. You enter the tire size and gear ratios on the first page, the next two pages will tell you your speed vs rpm and rpm vs speed. If I can find it in the mess of a file structure on my computer I can send it to you or work it...

Rostra Electronic (non vacuum) Cruise Control

The speed sensor on my 2008 Touring is behind the kickstand. Two wire from it run up to under the small balck cover on the left side of the bike. My Power Commander said to hook into the pink one. Quite certain that the speedometer still works as it told me I was speeding last night.
