- Rocket 3 Roadster 2008
Hi all. I'm from South Wales. UK. Owned my Rocket 3 Roadster nearly a year and done 2900 miles. Apart from changing rear brake pads (very simple job), not done much else.
Today I did a full oil and filter change, all going well until I tightened the front sump bolt and it snapped under very little tension
.
Contacted a local bike garage who advised as long as the thread holds the new oil or leaks slightly, bring it in.
Thankfully they managed to get the thread out without removing the entire sump. Replaced the bolt but in the process drained out the new oil and filled with new oil (though they would refill back up with the fresh oil I just put in but they don't advise it).
Surfice to say it had an expensive flush out
. All of ten miles usage.
Big lesson learnt. I will order new sump bolts beforehand when doing next oil and filter change.
P.S Fowlers Online stock genuine Triumph parts. Just look up parts codes first.
