Roadster footpegs to floorboards
I have an 07' R3 Classic with floorboards and would like to trade the whole set-up for Roadster footpegs, controls, brackets, etc...
Mine are the lower-hung style.
Dbutton,
Thanks for posting this. I am going to try this exact mod. My R3 was purchased used and did not have a plenum, so I don't know what one looks like. How did you mount the filters to it? Did you have to do some machining and welding??
Amazing video! Glad he survived, and survived so well!!
Ironically I just posted some photos of I high speed crash I was in last month. They're in the General Photo gallery.
Some jerk abandoned his dog at a highway rest stop and it wandered into traffic, causing a near pile-up of cars. With...
We picked up the broken pieces and I limped the bike to the Rest Stop where we kicked everything straight again and used pallet stabilizer jacks from a trucker to straighten out the handlebars, which were bent like a pretzel. We said a prayer and finished the remaining 250 miles to Atlanta where...
That's me in the white shirt disassembling the controls so we could bend the bars back again. My wrists were so tired I could barely use an allen wrench.
Cruising on Interstate 10, five of us on bikes with me in the lead. Traffic cruises at 80 to 85 mph. Speed limit is 70 down there. Traffic in front of me went chaotic as cars were dodging something in the road. Brake lights and tire smoke is all I could see as nailed the brakes, but not so hard...
The bars are twisted on both sides. If you use highway bars to protect your engine, and you lay it down at fast speeds, you can count on the bike flipping up on its wheels and coming down on the other side again.
I'd better keep an eye on that nylock nut on my Idle Air Control Motor...
Last August I was riding through Moab, Utah and had a 2500 RPM idle issue. I remembered reading something about that problem here on this site. Someone suggested turning the key off and restarting. This remedied the...
To Bike Week from Midwest
My brother and I planned to trailer our Triumphs to Bike Week 2012 from Northern Illinois. Is there anyone who would like to carpool with us?
We had 2 people drop out of our group of 4.
Planning to leave Friday March 9th.
The primary and secondary TPS's are not only different in cable length, but resistances as well.
I don't know if the secondary can be adjusted to allow only 1/2 volt at idle position to pass its wiper leg, but I do know their resistors are different.
BTW, a new ECU is over $600 on BikeBandit...
I've replaced broken gears in two other transmissions in the past. Neither were an R3, but the R3 uses the same cassette-type tranny with a spool shifter.
One of them had the shift dogs (the little tabs that extend off the side of the gear that mates it to another beside it upon sliding, via a...
I have read about this notorious 3rd gear slip-out problem elsewhere, both on this site and the r3owners.com site.
What I learned was that on several early model R3's, there is a set of bolts inside the transmission (2, I think) that simply needed to be cleaned and re-installed with Red Loctite...

What is a "bell crank"?
Do you mean the "actuating arm" described in the manual? It would be the short lever that clamps to the spline shaft that pulls the outer clutch pressure plate.
Did you remove, or lift the actuating arm?
